LG Electronics responds to Optimus One Campaign

  • Updated
  • 24-02-2011

Johannesburg, February 24, 2011 - LG Electronics S.A. (Pty) Ltd (LGESA) would like to clarify the facts, regarding the Optimus One television campaign.

LGeSA has dealt directly with the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa (ASA) on this matter. We confirm that LGeSA has given the ASA a voluntary undertaking to withdraw the Optimus One television campaign from the South African market. The ASA has consequently accepted the aforesaid undertaking without considering the merits of the matter.

At LG Electronics we have a sincere regard for our consumers. Once it became apparent that the message of the advert did not come across clearly, that the Optimus One is helpful in finding “ways to trap a spider without harming it”, we withdrew the campaign.

LG Electronics South Africa takes its consumers and the environment seriously. We confirm that we have formally withdrawn all the advertising material in relation to the Optimus One campaign in South Africa.
