LG launches Bluetooth Solar Car kit

Johannesburg 9 February 2009- LG Electronics (LG), a worldwide technology and design leader in mobile communications recently launched the new LG HFB500 Bluetooth Solar Car Kit, a portable device that connects to almost every Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone to provide hands-free convenience to users.

With a solar-panel backing, LG's new HFB-500 eliminates the need for a traditional electrical power source. Whether attached to the car windshield or taken outdoors, it can be used as a speakerphone and even a mobile charger. The LG HFB-500 is packaged with an adaptor which allows LG phones to be charged directly through the solar unit. An adaptor for Nokia* phones is also provided.

As a hands-free device, the HFB-500 provides up to 16 hours of talk time, and up to 1,100 hours of standby time. The device can be solar charged (24mAh/hour), with 30 minutes of talk time, for every 3 hours of sunlight.

It is illegal to drive and talk on a mobile phone in South Africa. Recent research in reveals that talking on a mobile phone while driving is more dangerous than driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The alternatives like pre-installed Bluetooth car kits or hands-free headsets are costly or require constant attention to keep charged.

LG is committed to creating products that are of real value to our consumers and hands-free devices are more than just convenient – they are also critical in keeping our roads safe,” said Michelle Potgieter, Marketing Director, LG Electronics South Africa.

The Bluetooth Solar Car Kit is available countrywide with RRP at R799.00
