LG’s Linear Compressor Refrigerators: Technology that Preserves

SOUTH AFRICA. September 2011 –The latest technological development in refrigeration from LG is the company’s innovative Linear Compressor technology - the next evolutionary step into environmentally friendly food preservers.

LG’s Linear Compressor technology reduces energy consumption by streamlining mechanical operations to circulate refrigerant without unnecessary rotating or reciprocating motions. The refrigerant gases used in LG Linear Compressor fridges are known as R600A gases, which are more eco-friendly than the traditional R134A refrigerants used in conventional fridges. Compared with an average refrigerator, which emits around 336KG of CO2 per year, LG’s Linear Compressor provides energy savings of up to 20% annually. The reduction in CO2 emissions and increased energy savings amounts to the equivalent of planting 24 pine trees. This eco-friendly and energy saving design is what makes LG Linear Compressor fridges an A+ Energy Class rated product.

“LG’s commitment to promoting a greener way of life is part of LG’s Home Appliance vision for the future,” says Michael Bang, General Marketing Manager for LG Electronics South Africa. “LG’s refrigerators with Linear Compressor technology has been recognised globally for its eco-chic designs that saves energy and preserves foods for longer, ensuring South Africans can enjoy freshly preserved home cooked meals straight from the fridge.

Fewer friction points (one instead of four, as in conventional compressors) work to significantly reduce noise levels while also enhancing durability. This enhanced durability also allows LG to offer a 10 year warranty on all refrigerators featuring the Linear Compressor Technology. On average, LG refrigerators are more effective in maintaining a constant inner temperature than conventional models with the same large capacity, thus helping to keep food fresher for longer.

What many consumers fail to realise is that the compressor mechanism of a fridge is the most important part of a refrigerator’s functioning, as it accounts for some 80% of the fridge’s energy consumption. Linear Compressor Technology minimises energy and has higher power saving results that help to reduce electrical bills while offering the full benefits of the finest refrigeration.

LG’s Linear Compressor refrigerators are the ideal food storage solution. They are designed to not only to minimise power consumption and help keep our planet green for future generations, but to also reduce noise pollution. As a result of features like Vacuum Fresh and Humidity Control, LG’s Linear Compressor refrigerators keep food preserved for longer and wastage is diminished. LG Linear Compressor technology contributes to a more eco-friendly and sustainable environment, saving consumers money and helping food lovers live a healthier life.
