What’s Cooking Good Looking?
JOHANNESBURG. 11 August, 2011 – LG Electronics’ 3rd national LG Life Tastes Good Championship will this year be broadcast on DStv’s Home Channel, bringing a spicy new flavour to the reality TV scene and introducing South Africa’s first locally produced reality cook-off show.
The show starts on Tuesday 16 August at 7:30pm and features 13 exciting episodes, with the final broadcast on Tuesday 8 November. The Home Channel is on channel 182 on DStv.
The LG Life Tastes Good Championship encourages non-professional food wizards to enter their finest recipes and together with a friend prepare their dishes for the judges. There are 16 teams competing in this year’s competition.
The competition is judged by SA’s most loved food personality Jenny Morris, also known as ‘The Giggling Gourmet’. The show is hosted by well-known 702 radio personality, Kieno Kammies.
The finalists will cook and present their culinary masterpieces all in hope of winning the 2011 LG Life Tastes Good National Championship title. The prize includes a LG SolarDOM oven for each member of the team, R30 000 cash, and the opportunity to represent South Africa at the Middle East and Africa finals in Turkey.
“Food and the art of cooking is such an important part of South African culture and with the LG Life Tastes Good Championship 2011 open to all food lovers, we are bound to see an assortment of culinary creations and recipes,” says Bronwyn Hume, Senior Manager Corporate Marketing for LG South Africa. “This cook-off show is a first for LG and aims to celebrate the diversity of food that we taste, cook and are able to enjoy daily with the help of LG’s stylish eco-friendly cooking appliances.”
All the finalists will be given the opportunity to produce their delicious feasts using the eco-friendly LG SolarDOM oven - a three-in-one cooking solution with a Mega Heater System that utilises light waves to cook up to food four-times faster than conventional ovens. The reduction in cooking time at higher temperatures of up to 320°C makes the SolarDOM more energy efficient and cuts time spent in the kitchen. Food is prepared in the same way you would steam meals, making your feasts tastier and equally more nutritious.
The LG Life Tastes Good Championship 2011 is the only cooking competition on a global level that is endorsed by renowned organisations such as the World Association of Chefs Societies and Le Cordon Bleu.
