Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nice phone, terrible charging I have had two of these phones in the past year. Each one has had the charging port break. My old LG ThinQ lasted me nearly 3 years with no issues. Now I'm on my 3rd of this model.

4G LG phones services are being faded out.my boost plan wants me to get a 5G or my service will not work. I purchased New LG TV, Range and Refrigerator hoping to connect to my phone. Does LG currently have any phone that is 5 G. Cellphone service for 4G

Asked by: ChrisLGsad
As you have alluded to in your inquiry, LG announced Monday (April 5) that it would be shutting down its mobile phone business and that although devices would not immediately disappear from store shelves; instead, the company plans to let current supplies dwindle without replacing any inventory. Existing LG phones will continue to receive support, with the exact length of that support to vary based on region. LG finished winding down its involvement with smartphones by Jul 31. LG did manufacture 5G phones and you would need to contact the network carriers to inquire if they still have any remaining inventory on the phones. AT&T had the LG WING™ 5G | AT&T, LG K92™ 5G | AT&T, LG K92™ 5G | AT&T, LG V60 ThinQ™ 5G | AT&T, Cricket had the LG K92™ 5G | Cricket Wireless, Sprint which was recently acquired by T-Mobile, had the LG V60 ThinQ™ 5G Dual Screen | Sprint, LG V60 ThinQ™ 5G | Sprint, T-Mobile had the LG WING™ 5G | T-Mobile, LG VELVET™ 5G | T-Mobile, LG V60 ThinQ™ 5G Dual Screen | T-Mobile, LG V60 ThinQ™ 5G | T-Mobile, U.S.Cellular had the LG K92™ 5G | U.S. Cellular, LG V60 ThinQ™ 5G | U.S. Cellular, and Verizon had the LG WING™ 5G | Verizon, LG VELVET™ 5G UW | Verizon, LG V60 ThinQ™ 5G UW | Verizon, and the LG V50 ThinQ™ 5G | Verizon. Boost Mobile used to run on Sprint's network, but recently transitioned to T-Mobile as part of T-Mobile's acquisition of Sprint so the 5G phones that you need to inquire about are those that T-Mobile carried. It is also not true that your 4G phone will not work on a 5G network. If you’re among the 86 percent of the population who are concerned that the recent rollouts of 5G networks will make your 4G cellphone obsolete, there’s no need to worry. 4G phones still work on a 5G network, they just won’t get that coveted 5G speed. That is a myth. 5G isn't replacing 4G any time soon. In fact, they will coexist and work together. 5G capable phones can actually use both 4G and 5G technology. Wireless carriers are rolling out 5G in the US, but that doesn’t mean you need to buy a 5G phone right away. It will take time for 5G to reach nationwide coverage. The growth of 5G networks doesn’t mean 4G is going away. Mobile carriers will use existing 4G LTE networks to provide their customers’ cell service well into the next decade. 5G networks will work with 4G — not outright replace it. The upshot is that 5G-capable cell phones will still use 4G technology...^Ivan

Is the LG G8X ThinQ a 5G phone or not. What is the future for that phone if it is not a 5G phone/

Asked by: Des264
The LG G8 ThinQ™, Model # LM820 is not a 5G phone. It is a 4G LTE phone. If you're among the 86 percent of the population who are concerned that the recent rollouts of 5G networks will make your 4G cellphone obsolete, there's no need to worry. 4G phones still work on a 5G network, they just won't get that coveted 5G speed. 5G is not an entirely new network. It's just added on top of the 4G network. 5G networks will work with 4G — not outright replace it. The upshot is that 5G-capable cell phones will still use 4G technology...^Ivan

Noticed was down to 20%,I was getting the cord to start charging, when the phone SHUT OFF. thought it must be lower in charge, so plugged in to charge. Hour later, can't turn on phone at all, no reset, zero comes up. what happened?

Asked by: KellieLaynne
We regret to read about the issues that you are experiencing with the LG G8X ThinQ™ Dual Screen | Unlocked, Model # LMG850QM7XAUSABK and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. It appears the phone has locked up and you can try letting it drain out then recharge it to see if turns on again after charging it. Regrettably, there are many causes as to why it locked up in the first place and the phone would need to be inspected to determine why it suddenly shut down. If possible, you should never allow the battery capacity to drop below 40%. Keeping the battery between 60-80% is considered a good practice that helps to give your battery a longer lifespan...^IFV

Why doesn't this phone support calling over wifi? I thought all android based phones did but there is no option in the settings menu to tirn ot on.

Asked by: Anonymous
The major U.S. carriers all support WiFi calling (AT&T, Sprint (which has since merged with T-Mobile), T-Mobile, and Verizon), but double check if you use another carrier. And, WiFi calling is generally available on Android phones that have been manufactured within the last few years. However, WiFi calling isn't automatically enabled on Android phones. The LG G8X ThinQ™ | AT&T, Model # LMG850UM1AAG3BKY does support Wi-Fi Calling. On the settings screen, tap Network & Internet > Wi-Fi Calling (page 135 in your owner's manual for the phone)...^IFV
