What people are saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I wanted to like this machine. I've had this laundry machine for three and a half years, and despite the care with which I've treated it, it's been a huge disappointment. This washer-dryer combo is incredibly loud and takes several hours to wash small loads of laundry. It doesn't remove pet hair from clothing at all, and it stopped drying properly within six months of installation (this is thanks to the massive amounts of wet lint that accumulate in the guts of the machine). I also have to use the timed dry setting exclusively because any other dry setting prompts the machine to stop running after only a few minutes. I've tried using the app to help diagnose the issues I've experienced, but this too hasn't worked (I don't recall why just now). In the time I've had this washer-dryer, I've spent a lot to have it repaired. Six months after I began using the machine, bits of the door boot began crumbling. Within a year and a half of initial use, a water inlet valve failed. Within just over two years, the drain pump stopped working. And now, a year since I had the original drain pump replaced, this part has failed again. I was told by an appliance repair mechanic that the drain pumps LG uses are prone to failure, but I didn't expect to have to replace the part twice within three and a half years. I'm not in the position to pay hundreds to have this repaired again, so I'm going to order a new drain pump and replace it myself this time. LG makes it difficult to access the machine's innards, but several repair technicians' YouTube videos have given me the confidence I need to DIY this repair. I really wanted to like this, but it's been a source of stress. At the best of times, I've been able to come up with workarounds to make up for this machine's many shortcomings; at its worst, the machine has left me with soaking wet clothes and a washer that wont drain. I do not recommend this laundry machine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for small space This all in one washing machine is perfect for a small condo or townhouse. I’m not allowed to vent a dryer this machine is ventless so it was perfect for my townhouse.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hoping for the best After having the unit for just a year, my clothes were not drying. I had to pay for repair service and a new pump and the clothes still didn’t dry. Repair service came back and was able to remove a lot of wet lint that was clogging the heat vent. Worked about two weeks and seems like like lint is clogging that vent again. I am really disappointed as I installed cabinets and a counter top based on that unit. I do not have room for side by side units, and now would have to remove everything for a stackable.

How can I turn the sound/chime off that it makes when a load has finished?

Asked by: AmyB9
Your LG 2.3 cu.ft. Compact All-In-One Washer/Dryer, Model # WM3488HW has a Signal On/Off button that you can use to turn off the melody that the washer plays when a wash cycle finishes and to turn off the sound that the buttons make each time they are pressed (see Signal On/Off on page 27 in your owner's manual) The Signal On/Off button is the same button as the Water Plus button on the control panel for the washer. Page 10 in the Product Overview in your owner's manual gives a description for each button on the control panel and page 9 has an illustrated diagram showing the control panel where you can see the Water Plus/ *Signal On/Off button located on the left side of the control panel between the Delay Wash and Custom Program buttons. The asterisk on the Signal On/Off button indicates that it is a secondary function so you need to press and hold it for 3 seconds to activate the secondary function...^Ivan

I only have cold water to connect, dos this combo have a water heater

Asked by: Illyan
The LG 2.3 cu.ft. Compact All-In-One Washer/Dryer, Model # WM3488HW does not have an internal heating element for heating the water. This washer/dryer combo has to be connected to a hot and cold water supply. Your water supply pressure must be between 20 psi and 120 psi (138 – 827 kPA). If the Water supply pressure is more than 120 psi, a pressure reducing valve must be installed. To provide optimum washing performance, the hot water temperature should be set at 120 – 135°F (48-57°C) and the cold at 60°F (15°C)....^Ivan

My machine vibrates and shakes very badly. Is there anything I can do to stop it from shaking so badly?

Asked by: kat32
How long have you owned the LG 2.3 cu.ft. Compact All-In-One Washer/Dryer, Model # WM3488HW and has it always vibrated and shaken excessively? It is advised that the washer should be installed on a solid floor that is strong and rigid enough to support the weight of the washing machine, even when fully loaded, without flexing or bouncing. If the floor has too much flex, you may need to reinforce it to make it more rigid. If the floor is not solid, it may cause severe vibration and noise. A floor that is adequate for a top-loading washer may not be rigid enough for a front loading washer, due to the difference in the spin speed and direction. If the floor is not solid, your washer may vibrate and you may hear and feel the vibration throughout your house. You also need to ensure that your floor is clean, dry, and free of dust, dirt, water, and oils so the washer feet can not slide easily. Your washer came with non-skid pads that you can use to prevent the leveling feet from sliding on your floor. Leveling feet that can move or slide on the floor can contribute to excess vibration and noise due to poor contact with the floor. If you are using a drip pan, take extra care to follow the instructions provided with the drip pan and make sure the leveling feet are adjusted for firm and even contact with the pan. Use of drip pans and failure to properly level the machine may result in increased vibration and noise during operation...^Ivan

I just purchased this unit and I have a question. It says this unit runs on 120V, but on the Home Depot receipt, it says I need a Dryer Power Cord? I got this unit because it runs on 120V. Please confirm that the whole unit will run on 120V. Thanks.

Asked by: KenK29
The LG 2.3 cu.ft. Compact All-In-One Washer/Dryer, Model # WM3488HW comes with an attached power cord that has to be plugged into a 120 VAC, 60 Hz grounded outlet. If you look at the back of the unit, you will see the attached power cord. You can also verify the power requirements for the unit by looking at the specifications on the nameplate attached to the unit. The reminder on your receipt from the Home Depot is for Electric Dryers that do not come with an attached power cord and it has to be purchased separately...^Ivan
