Sampling Frequency (for Receivers and Amplifiers)

If you have external audio components, like a receiver or amplifier, you'll want to make sure you have your LG Smart Blu-ray player set to the right frequency. You should check the documentation that came with your external audio system to verify its capabilities.

The frequencies available, along with instructions on when to use them, are below:

1. Press the HOME button on the remote control and select Settings > AUDIO > Sampling Frequency then press ENTER or WHEEL.

Sampling Frequency base

2. Select the Sampling Frequency option that matches your device's audio input.

Sampling Frequency

  • 192 kHz - Select this if your A/V receiver or amplifier is capable of handling 192 kHz signals.
  • 96 kHz - Select this if your A/V receiver or amplifier is not capable of handling 192 kHz signals. When this choice is made, this unit automatically converts any 192 kHz signals to 96 kHz so your system can decode them.
  • 48 kHz - Select this if your A/V receiver or amplifier is not capable of handling 192 kHz and 96 kHz signals. When this choice is made, this unit automatically converts any 192 kHz and 96 kHz signals to 48 kHz so your system can decode them.

DRC (Dynamic Range Control)

If you'd like to keep the audio from bothering the neighbors or your own ears, but would still like to hear everything clearly, this function can help.

How do I use DRC?
When content is encoded in Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital Plus or Dolby TrueHD is playing back, you can compress the dynamic range of the audio output (the difference between the loudest sounds and the quietest ones). This allows you to listen to a movie at a lower volume without losing clarity of sound. Set [DRC] to [On] for this effect.

1. Press the HOME button on the remote control and select Settings > AUDIO > DRC then press ENTER or WHEEL.

AUDIO DRC base

2. Select the option that suits your needs.

Audio DRC

  • AUTO - the dynamic range of the Dolby TrueHD audio output is specified by itself.
  • ON - This allows you to listen to a movie at a lower volume without losing clarity of sound.
