Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great features but dead after just 2 years Well it's complicated I review this product right now as it has just died on me while watching a show. The television itself feels to be made of great quality products, the metal backing with plastic bevel gives it a sense of sturdiness and as a product that will last a good while. The features are great with Smart TV options and file playback from USB or external storage. Picture quality when calibrated was really nice and the passive 3D feature was used often with my blu-rays and games. However, after only owning the TV for two years it has died on me the other day. If it wasn't for this problem I would've gladly rated it 4* as it's well built and packed with features for a TV of its price range. I don't know if this was an issue with mine or there are more out there that this has happened to, but I know that if the next TV I get is an LG I'll be getting one from Currys with a 5 year warranty. In short if buying this TV or any LG I would insist that you also get the extended warranty. If LG are able to help me with this and sort it out, I'd be happy to re-write the review to a more favourable one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LG 42LM620T Amazing Tech for Amazing Price I have waited 3 months before leaving a review so I can give a fair realistic opinion. I have set many TVs up in my time but this has to be the easiest I have ever encountered. The TV interface is easy with clear easy choices. Once the stand was attached (no more than a few minutes to do) which I used for the first three days before wall mounting it; tuning in the TV to the built in Freeview and Sky was child's play. It took about 10 minutes to self scan and tune in the Freeview channels. Within 15 minutes the TV was up and running with everything attached including the DVD player and Smart Media box. You may read many reviews where people say things like the darks aren't dark enough or colours bleed into each other. While this might be true these are elements that the naked eye or the average person will not be able to notice. Once a little bit of fine tuning is done colours are bright, vibrant and crystal clear. Darks are dark enough for your eyes to pick out blacks, greys and all the shadings in between. Having studied photography I scored a perfect score on the colour spectrum test and I can't see any problems with the black tones etc. Watching sport, it is difficult for the naked eye to pick up any lag, unlike my old Sharp LCD TV. Again, LED TVs normally have a bad reputation when it comes to sound and although the speakers are not going to blow you away they are more than adequate for the average person and again, much better than my older Sharp LCD TV and comparable to most other older LCD TVs I have come across either in shops or owned by friends and family. I have never owned a 3D TV so before making my choice I did a little research. The problem is that the more you research and the more you read the more jumbled and confusing it becomes. I chose the LG TV over a comparable Samsung and Toshiba TV for two reasons: 1# I preferred the passive glasses over the heavier active glasses that need batteries. The LG passive system is very similar to what you would see in the cinema. Although you don’t get the 3D in full HD because of the splitting of the picture, the 3D is still pretty spectacular and I never realised I wasn’t watching it in 3D. The depth of field and objects projecting out of the TV is mind blowing. Word of warning, depending on your eyes you may find your eyes straining and you might need 5 - 10 minutes for your eyes to adjust. 2# Price. LG offer four pairs of glasses with the TV where Samsung only give you two pairs and Toshiba give none. On pricing these glasses I found they retail for around £30.00 per pair compared to around £10.00 for four pairs of the LG passive type glasses. Smart TV is great but maybe a little gimmicky. I say gimmicky as I think after a few months I would stop using it to watch You Tube etc. LG also offer lots of free games and programs through the freeview which is fun if you have an extra five minutes to kill. This is where I find LG have faltered by not including a free dongle or better still having it built in. As far as I am aware only the LG dongle listed will work with the TV. You do have the option of connecting the TV directly to your internet via the hub but this would mean running wires which I did not want to do. With the WIFI you can also play media files from your computer or laptops etc. Very useful indeed. Via the connected USB slot and freeview you can record programs on to a memory stick or an external hard drive. Another great plus. The remote is ergonomically designed and easy to use with buttons easily defined. The TV also comes with its own media player, just plug a USB storage pen or external hard drive into one of the USB ports and the TV will pick it up. You can watch your films, listen to music or view your photos in a slide show presentation. You can also program your SKY remote to activate the volume control: Press TV button, hold down select and red button together for 2 sec, red light will blink twice, then enter code 1451, red light will blink twice. Done. The TV also comes with a full screen gaming mode #special glasses needed) where dual playing gamers can see the full screen instead of the screen being split. I also have my TV’s light sensor set to on so that the TV can intelligently increase/decrease the picture for the amount of light in the room. Ideal if like me you have the sun #when it shines) peering straight through the window. The LG also beat both the comparable Samsung and Toshiba TV mentioned earlier for HDMI ports, this TV having four and two USB ports along with the older type RGB, Scart connections. To sum it all up. I am very, very pleased with the LG 42LM620T and I would recommend it to anyone. In fact, a friend and nephew are both so impressed they want to buy one. Lowest price I have seen was £489.00…nice piece of kit at really good price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fantastic picture, many superb features, great TV my daughter was with me when I bought this set. She talked me into it as I was going to get a different brand. I am so glad she did. There was a great deal on with it at the time and the set looks so good as well as performing brilliantly.
