My LG Blu-ray player is constantly displaying “Hello” on the front LCD display. How can I resolve this?

Symptom Symptom

My Blu-ray player is always displaying 'Hello' on the front LCD display.

Cause Cause

Blu-ray players often display this message when there has been an issue with the software update. Normally this occurs when the

update has been interrupted. When a unit is being updated the first process of the update is to remove the current software from

the unit. It will then re-install the software as a newer, updated version. If this process is stopped the update will not be able to

completely re-install the software causing the unit to be unresponsive.

How to Fix How to Fix

You could try downloading the firmware from the LG website and put it onto a USB stick and plug this into the unit. - This should

resolve this issue by replacing the software/firmware that has been deleted.

If the unit has suddenly started doing this with no firmware update being done try a hard reset, Powering off at the wall for a

minimum of 30mins and then powering back on via holding the power button on the front of the unit.
