POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

 

1. All LG Electronics SA (Pty) Ltd units are to be installed according to the LGESA’s specifications, as set out in the installation manual, and according to SABS code of

practice by a competent and fully trained air-conditioning technician. Please note that the use of aluminum piping is strictly prohibited, unless prior written consent obtained LG Electronics SA (Pty) Ltd

 

2. The unit must be supplied by LGESA and be installed within six (6) months of date of invoice.

 

3. It is the responsibility of the Air Conditioning Contractor to install the Air Conditioning equipment of the LGESA’s specifications and factory limitations. Air Conditioning products must be installed to design criteria and be operated within normal operating conditions by the end user.

 

4. The LGESA unit carries a standard Two (2) year warranty inclusive of the following:

a. Electronics;

b. Refrigeration components; and

c. Mechanical and Electrical Parts.

 

5. The Warranty excludes the following:

a. Chassis and outdoor coils;

b. Cosmetics;

c. Labour;

d. Refrigerant;

e. Travelling;

f.  Acts of God;

g. Malicious damage;

h. Rodents;

i.  Tampering by an unauthorized contractor; and

j.  Corrosion of untreated parts when installed at coastal areas or high corrosive areas.

6. The Compressor carries a standard five (5) year warranty and comes into effect on the date of invoice. In the event of installation of RAC equipment in a domestic environment, post 2018, the Compressor carries a standard ten (10) year warranty and comes into effect on the date of invoice.

 

7. All units installed at coastal areas and / or highly corrosive areas must be treated accordingly and as per the Treatment Company’s regulations and procedures.

 

8. The warranty is subject to the system being serviced timeously as required and maintained by a LGESA approved dealer.

 

9. In the event of spares not being available from LGESA, spares may be purchased from and approved external supplier under the normal warranty claim procedure. This must however be authorized by the relevant LGESA Manager in writing in advance.

 

10. (A) – All warranty claims must be completed and followed through on the GSFS system.

      (B) – Warranty claims are to be addressed directly with the Service Department.

 

11. All Warrant claims must include the following information:

a. Copy of original invoice;

b. Model number;

c. Serial number;

d. Signed job card by client;

e. Copy of services contract (if older than one (1) year); and

f. Clients contact details and address (if applicable).

 

12. All faulty parts and compressors are to be kept by the dealer for three (3) months to allow for parts to be inspected by a LGESA technician.

 

13. All warranties will be immediately terminated in cases where non LG products or equipment has been connected to a LG product.

 

14. As part of LGESA customer service program, an air-conditioning technician may elect to make a follow up courtesy call directly to the end-user following a warranty claim.

 

NOTE

Failure to comply with the above Policies and Procedures may result in the claim being rejected by the Service Department.

 

 

RETURNS

 

1. Replacement of units will only be authorized if technical problems are detected on the recommendation of the LGESA technician once the unit has been fully inspected on site and all possible solutions have been exhausted to rectify the unit.

 

2. A dealer report along with the LGESA technician’s report will be completed on the returned unit for future reference and factory evaluation. Due to the products high quality and extensive factory testing, we believe that it is highly unlikely that a LGESA unit will be dead on arrival.

Therefore no dead on arrival units will be accepted as returns until the LGESA technician has carried out a thorough investigation.

 

3. No unit will be allowed to be dropped off at the warehouse without the correct arrangements being made in writing in advance with the relevant LGESA staff member and accompanied with the correct paperwork.

 

4. NO SALES PERSON will return a unit without the proper investigation and authorization of the Air Solution Product Director.

 

 

MAINTENANCE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

 

1. Standard Warranty Monthly Service Requirements (Room Air Conditioners)

1.1     Clean all filters;

1.2     Check all drains and if applicable drain pump operation;

1.3     Check controls and functions; and

1.4     Check operation of cooling and heating

 

2. Standard Warranty Annual Service Requirements

2.1     Remove unit to workshop and power wash condenser and evaporator (Split units to be serviced on site);

2.2     Clean all filters;

2.3     Check fan motors and moving parts;

2.4     Check unit and compressor for vibration (Compressor and fan mountings);

2.5     Check controls and all electrical connections;

2.6     Treat fans and any required parts for corrosion if necessary;

2.7     Check superheat;

2.8     Check amperage of compressor and fan motor;

2.9     Wash outside of unit with suitable detergent (Plain water for Gold Fin); and

2.10   Annual corrosive treatment for coastal areas

 

3. Standard Warranty Monthly Service Requirements (Commercial Air Conditioners)

3.1     Visually inspect all components of plant for proper operation and report defects;

3.2     Check and recalibrate all safety devises – HP/LP control, oil pressure switches and overloads;

3.3     Check on any unusual plant noise and vibration;

3.4     Check for refrigerant and oil leaks;

3.5     Check on condition of filters and clean;

3.6     Check condition of drives, pulleys and v-belts;

3.7     Check superheat of system, supply and return air temperatures (Log temperatures);

3.8     Check rotation, speed and controls of condenser and evaporator fans;

3.9     Clean condenser and evaporator coils;

3.10   Check electrical connections; and

3.11   LGMV check of internal health of the system

 

4. Standard Warranty Annual Service Requirements

4.1     Visually inspect all components of plant for proper operation and report defects;

4.2     Check on any unusual plant noise and vibration;

4.3     Check for refrigeration and oil leaks;

4.4     Check oil heater operation;

4.5     Check on condition of filters and clean;

4.6     Check condition of drives, pulleys and V-belts;

4.7     Check unloaded operation and capacity control;

4.8     Check holding down bolts;

4.9     Check control settings;

4.10   Check timer set points and start delays;

4.11   Check safety devices;

4.12   Check heater banks, static pressure and airflow controls;

4.13   Check head pressure, suction pressure and crankcase regulator pressures (Log pressures);

4.14   Check and lubricate all linkages and moving parts;

4.15   Check and recalibrate all controls;

4.16   Check superheat of system, supply and return air temperatures (Log temperatures);

4.17   Check oil pressure and oil level (If oil pressure control is fitted);

4.18   Check and lubricate all bearings;

4.19   Check rotation, speed and controls of condenser and evaporator fans;

4.20   Check condenser and evaporator motor amps (Log);

4.21   Check operation and setting of dampers;

4.22   Clean condenser and evaporator coils;

4.23   Check overload settings (Log compressor and fan motors);

4.24   Check compressor and amps (Log);

4.25   Check and clean condensate pans and drains;

4.26   Clean exterior and interior of equipment;

4.27   Annual corrosive treatment for coastal areas; and

4.28   LGMV software and installation training is required for all Universal CAC products.

 

A copy of a signed and dated Service Maintenance Contract is to be provided to the relevant LGESA staff member. Any claim is to be supported with a job card which must show full unit and project details. All claims must be signed by both the end user and AC Contactor.

 

NOTE

Failure to adhere to any of the above mentioned service requirements, for whatever reason, including commission to maintain updated and complete service records and/or service frequency may render the warranty Null and Void.
