[LG Air Conditioner Inspection] I want to learn how to inspect the air conditioner before using it

Troubleshooting

Causes and Symptoms

  • The circuit breaker for the air conditioner has tripped.
  • Remote controller battery is out.
  • Operation mode is set to cooling mode.
  • The vent window for the outdoor unit room is closed.
  • Filter is not cleaned.

Try this

If the exclusive circuit breaker for the air conditioner has tripped, reset the circuit breaker.

The circuit breaker is usually installed by the front door entrance or on the wall inside the shoe rack, and is marked as [air conditioner] or [A/C], and in some cases, an additional circuit breaker is also installed on the wall of the outdoor unit room.
If the circuit breaker is not set to on, electricity will not be supplied to the air conditioner, so, it won't operate.

Circuit breaker for home / circuit breaker for business use

In case of a dedicated circuit breaker for a commercial air conditioner, check if the circuit breaker lever is caught in the middle.

➔ If the circuit breaker has been tripped by the test button, the lever is caught in the middle, in which case the lever must be pulled all the way down and raised again.

If the test button gets stuck, the lever is stuck in the middle. In this case, the lever must be fully lowered and raised again.

Check if the operation condition of the remote controller is ok.

The batteries may have been discharged, so open the cover on the back of the remote control and replace the batteries with new ones.
If nothing appears on the display window or letters appear and then disappear after fitting new batteries, your remote control may be inoperative.

Open the cover on the back of the remote control and replace with new batteries.

Check if the operation mode of the remote controller is set to cooling operation.

Select the dehumidification and auto(AI) modes. Then the target temperature and the fan speed will be automatically set and it might feel less cold.
Switch the operation mode to cooling for use.

Switch the driving mode to cooling.

Check if the target temperature is set higher than the indoor temperature.

Set the target temperature to 18 degrees.
If the target temperature is set higher than or equal to the current indoor temperature, then the product concludes that the user is satisfied with the current indoor temperature and thus it stops cooling and only operates the fan mode.

Check if the outdoor unit room is not ventilated and see if there is an obstacle near the water supply outlet of the outdoor unit.

Open the front ventilation window of the outdoor unit in such way that its louver angle is level to the ground.
Remove dusts at the rear of the outdoor unit and remove any obstacle around the outdoor unit to ensure sufficient effective ventilation.
Due to overheating of the outdoor unit, cold air can come out and stop repeatedly.

Open the window where the outdoor unit is located or the ventilation window in the outdoor unit room.
Clear obstacles around the outdoor unit

Check if the filter has been clogged by dust.

➔ If there is dust or alien substance in the filter, then the fan speed can get reduced or cooling performance can get degraded.
