Channels changing by themselves
Although you did not press anything on the remote controller while watching TV, the broadcast station channel automatically changed.
Cause and Symptoms
- TV switches channels without input from the user.
- An external device remote control with the TV control function could be changing the channels.
- The channel button on the remote controller might be stuck, causing false input.
Try this
Try removing then reinserting the batteries from the remote controller to see if the problem of channel changing automatically on their own gets resolved. If the issue got resolved after battery removal and reinsertion, your remote controller will require either a service repair or replacement.
How to remove remote controller batteries may vary by model.
A 3rd party remote controller device with TV control function could be malfunctioning. Remove the batteries from the device in question and reinsert them carefully after having cleaned polarity terminals from dust or dirt and check the results.
Once you have removed and reinserted the remote controller batteries and the problem situation appears to have been resolved, that remote controller will need to be repaired or replaced.
Channels received via a set-top box are changed by a signal from the set-top box remote controller. So, if set-top box channels change automatically, please check malfunctioning of the set-top box or set-top box remote controller with your broadcast TV subscription provider.
