If your LG Smart Monitor Swing or TV monitor turns on with your living room TV, your devices are responding to the same remote control signal.
For your smart monitor, turn on Use Provided Remote Only in the settings.
For your TV monitor, enable IR Lock using the number buttons on your remote.
If these settings are unavailable, cover the remote control sensor on your monitor to block the signal.
Why Do the Devices Turn On Together?
Your monitor responds to your other TV remote because its sensor recognizes the same infrared signal.
How to Stop Your Monitor and TV From Turning On Together
Case 1. Set Your Smart Monitor to Use Only Its Provided Remote
Press the Settings (gear icon) or Mute button on your remote three times.
- Some smart monitors can be set to respond only to their provided remote.
- For 2026 and later monitors (webOS 26 and later): Press the Settings button on your remote, then select All Settings, System, Additional Settings, and turn on Use Provided Remote Only.
- For 2025 and earlier monitors (webOS 25 and earlier): Press the Settings button on your remote, then select All Settings, General, System, Additional Settings, and turn on Use Provided Remote Only.
Case 2. Set your gaming monitor to respond only to the included remote control.
Press the Settings button on the remote control, then select General and Remote Setting on the screen.
Case 3. Enable IR Lock on Your TV Monitor
- Open the channel guide on your TV monitor.
- Press the 0 button on your remote five times until IR Lock On appears on the screen. This blocks the remote signal.
- To turn off IR Lock, press the [0] button five times again.
Case 4. Cover the Remote Control Sensor on the Monitor
Cover the remote control sensor at the bottom of the monitor you do not want to turn on. Use opaque tape or an object to block the remote control signal.
