[LG refrigerator - condensation] Condensation formed on/around the outer surface/door gasket of the refrigerator.

Troubleshooting

Air has a high content of water in the rainy season or when it rains in a hot summer.
Similar to condensation forming on the shelves or cold water bottles after you have opened the refrigerator door, condensation may form on the door gasket as moisture meets cold air when you open/close the refrigerator.
This is a normal phenomenon that appears particularly when humidity is high and disappears when humidity decreases. Wipe off any water droplets from the surface or door gasket of the refrigerator with a dry cloth.

Causes and Symptoms

  • Indoor humidity is high in the rainy season.
  • The refrigerator door is not closed tightly.
  • The door gasket is stained with a foreign object so that it doesn't seal the refrigerator door.

Try this

Do you have your refrigerator installed and running in a highly humid place or near a window?

➔ It is recommended that you install your refrigerator in a place where the ambient temperature is 5℃ to 43℃, humidity is low, and ventilation is good.

If the refrigerator is installed in a veranda or near a window where wet air outside can enter, water droplets may form on the door gasket.
Simply wipe them off with a dry cloth.

scrubbing the surface of the refrigerator

Is the refrigerator door not closing completely so that cold air is able to leak?

➔ Check the contents below and close the refrigerator door completely.

If the refrigerator door is not completely closed, cold air will leak, meet highly humid air and form water droplets on the door gasket.
If the drawers or shelves haven’t been reinstalled properly after cleaning the refrigerator, remove and insert them again correctly.
If there is too much food, rearrange it so that the door can be properly closed smoothly.
Remove coverings from the refrigerator or plastic bags in the freezer door storage which may get caught in the door.
Clean contaminants off of the door gasket as they may degrade sealing and thus lead to cold air leaks.

Fresh air enters the refrigerator door

Is cold air leaking because the door gasket is stained with foreign objects and does not seal the refrigerator door tightly?

➔ Clean the door gasket using a detergent.

If the door gasket is stained with hardened foreign objects, it may fall off and leave gaps when you open/close the refrigerator door.
Wipe the door gasket with a hot steamed towel and clean it using toothpaste applied on a toothbrush or a sponge.
If any moisture is left after cleaning, water droplets may form again. Wipe them off with a dry towel one more time.

If the door gasket has fallen off or become loose so that it does not tightly seal the refrigerator door, press it back into its place.
