[LG refrigerator structure] There are fruit flies in the refrigerator

Troubleshooting

Do you see bugs like fruit flies in the refrigerator?

Refrigerators have an airtight structure that prevents cold air from escaping, so insects such as fruit flies cannot enter.
Also, due to the cold temperature, bugs can't survive inside the refrigerator.
However, when you open and close the refrigerator door, fruit flies can be attracted by the smell of food or the lighting, or when you buy and store fruit, adult flies or eggs attached to fruit may hatch and lay eggs inside the refrigerator.
We recommend keeping the area around the sink or trash can clean to avoid fruit flies.

Try this

Do you see fruit flies around the sink or trash can?

➔ Keep it clean so that insects such as fruit flies do not gather.

Fruit flies are particularly attracted to sour or fermented food. They can't see well but have developed a strong sense of smell, so have the ability to identify foods by smell.
Therefore, they tend to gather in places where there is the smell of food, so make sure that there are no food residues left in the sink and trash can.

How to remove garbage around the refrigerator

Is the refrigerator not closed completely?

➔ Always check that the refrigerator door is closed well.

If the refrigerator door is not completely closed, insects such as fruit flies may enter.
First, remove any cover from the top of the refrigerator, as it may get caught in the refrigerator door and prevent the door from closing.
Check the shelf position and organize the food, as the door may not close all the way if the shelf in the refrigerator is misplaced or there is too much food on it.

After cleaning the inside of the refrigerator, the door is closed

Is there food or a gap in the door gasket?

➔ Clean the refrigerator to prevent fruit flies from smelling food and entering the refrigerator.

Please replace the door gasket if it's damaged.
The inside of the refrigerator is airtight, so insects such as fruit flies cannot enter.
Also, due to the cold temperature inside the refrigerator, it is impossible for insects to survive there. However, fruit flies can gather at the part where the refrigerator and door gasket come into contact, as it’s warm there.
Fruit flies, are particularly attracted to food on the door gasket and can hide in the door gasket gap and enter when you open the refrigerator door.
So, if there is any foreign substance on the door gasket, use a soft wet towel to clean.
If the door gasket is torn, contact the LG Electronics Service Center to replace it.
