Rated 4 out of 5 by from Totally worth it What this is: A 4K panel, with really good ghostless, passive 3D (way better than active 3D). I think it's the only option for this right now, /and/ it's very modestly priced! What this isn't: A high-contrast colour-accurate cinema experience. It's just an LCD. What's great: I got the "Gravity" 3D BluRay, with white-on-black 3D elements, and point-source stars in the background at full-HD. Just about the most challenging test material that I could find for ghosting and resolution. By default, of course, it looked awful because of the wierd settings that all manufacturers seem to use, but once I had beaten the TV settings to something less stupid (ie: pretty much just turning everything off), I was *very* happy with the resolution and ghosting performance. I was especially surprised that background stars (that didn't do so well on an interlaced-3D 1080p panel) were clear and visible in both eyes. Instructions to enjoy: * Update the firmware (known issues in the old version, says a Google search) * Get a 3D BluRay and a 3D BluRay player. * Switch the picture mode to "Expert" and turn off everything that messes with the picture quality. * * Enjoy! * = If a 200-million-dollar budget went into producing a movie for you, I can't imagine why you'd want your TV to change the colour and contrast before you get to see it. I'm a tecchy type, I'm interested in the hardware, and whether the software (the user interface) lets me play with it, and I'm thrilled, this is a good piece of kit at this price. I'm a member of a 3D camera club, I own three 3D computer monitors, and I help to run the stereo projection equipment at meetings, and I can confidently say that LG's passive 3D tech in TVs is peerless, easily the best option at the moment. (though their 3D monitors are not very good!) I'm new to smart TVs, and I've found this to be easy and intuitive to use. The remote is great once you learn how to use it (read the manual!), and I've only tried a few of the smart features but they're great, full marks. The user interface and whole system seem pretty good to me. Every product like this (from all brands) seems to insist on having strangely named settings that aren't documented, at all. This TV has quite a lot of those, which is frustrating, but what it also has is a guided wizard to setting some of the basics they way you like them. --- but --- What's really not great: 24fps support. This affects most (all?) movies you'll get on BluRay. There's a "Real Cinema 24p" setting, and when it's on the image is horrifically juddery, there's something wrong. I think that the panel doesn't support 24 fps natively, so it has settings to compromise in three different ways, and I'm frustrated that there isn't a better solution. Your options are: "Real Cinema" on: The TV never blends or fakes frames, but it shows frames for different amounts of time from each other, and the juddering is really distracting. "Real Cinema" and "TruMotion" off: The image gets a bit blurry because it's occasionally blending frames to get the average correct. "TruMotion" on: The TV looks at the frames and uses really advanced cleverness to guess what belongs between them, generating 100fps from the input. The image is now smooth and sharp, but it looks creepy and unnatural, because cinematographers very carefully choose frame exposure times for different appearances and feels of film, and you've just thrown that out the window, and you're now seeing what the scene would look like if it was filmed by a hack using a handycam. It's called the "Soap Opera" effect for a reason. I've spent many hours (really!) fiddling with the settings and with the TruMotion options, but sadly I haven't found a solution that I'm happy with. If anyone from LG is reading and can take feedback in any meaningful manner, or give me information in any meaningful manner, please contact me!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No standard remote only junk magic remote TV is good but the remote is rubbish. Every function requires multiple actions. Even changing channels is ridiculous rather than just pushing a single button. Have to buy a standard remote as no other option. TV guide barely works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent TV I've only had this TV for a month so far, but so far it has been brilliant. Picture is outstanding. Especially when you get some UHD demo material or some of the better looking blurays. This was basically the most complete line of Ultra HD TV's on the market. Had HDMI 2.0 for 4k@60hz when it's possible, passive 3D so you can just use cinema glasses and still have a 3D movie at 1080p. Also has a lot of different picture settings so you can tweak each source to look exactly as you want. With a new set of profiles for each HDMI port. The only flaw is the difficulty in finding material to truly show off how wonderful the picture is.
