[LG styler] Running time decreases while the styler is running

Troubleshooting

Did you see the remaining time on the display suddenly decrease while the cycle that uses steam such as Styling or Sterilize is in progress?
Did it end faster than expected?

Causes and Symptoms

  • You have put a detergent or a fabric softener in the water dispenser.
  • You used the styler again right after you had run a cycle that uses steam, such as Styling.

The styler is designed to automatically skip the steaming step when a detergent or a fabric softener is detected in the water dispenser because it may create bubbles and cause a malfunction.
For this reason, operation may end earlier than expected.
In addition, if you run the styler again not long after a cycle that uses steam has ended, the operating time may be decreased by the amount of time required for pre-heating as the water has been already heated.

Try this

Did you put a fabric softener in the water dispenser or clean it with a detergent?

➔ Always use pure water in the water dispenser.

Depending on its configuration, the styler may automatically skip the steaming step to avoid malfunctioning if a detergent or a fabric softener is detected in the water dispenser.
In addition, detergent waste may block the water dispenser nozzle and cause a malfunction of the styler.
Therefore, always use pure water in the water dispenser.

Incorrect example: using liquid detergents and fabric softeners
Warning!

It is better to clean the water dispenser with water only.
If a detergent is used, then you should rinse it with water two to three times so that no trace of detergent remains.

Did you use the styler right after you ran a cycle that uses steam?

➔ It is natural that the total operating time is decreased because the water is already heated and thus no pre-heating is needed.

To use the Steam function, you should first raise the temperature of the steam generator inside the styler and boil the water.
If water is already hot because you ran the Steam right before you use the styler, pre-heating is no longer needed and thus the total time required for a cycle will be reduced.
If, however, you put hot water directly into the water dispenser to save time, an abnormality may occur in the styler.
Add only cool or lukewarm water to the water dispenser.
