No Power - Dishwasher

Operation

No Power - Dishwasher

In most cases, electrical cord connection leading to the dishwasher is the reason for no electricity. Using an extension cord may not supply sufficient electrical power to the dishwasher and power may not be turned on. Power may not be turned on when multiple household appliances are connected using one same extension cord due to total power availability.

Note If the issue experienced is “Power to dishwasher / Won’t start” kindly skip over to the video tutorial addressing that specific issue. Click the following link which happens to be the title of that video “Troubleshooting a Dishwasher That Powers on but Does Not Run [VIDEO].”

Cause and Symptoms

  • Dishwasher will not operate.

Try this

As the electrical current to the dishwasher is provided via a junction box, there is no household AC outlet per se for you to check whether another appliance, such as a lamp or a hair blower, will power on from that same junction box current outlet.

Fuse is blown or circuit breaker tripped

Is this the first time using since installation?

Ensure the house circuit breaker is ON. If it has been triggered have it reset. If not, you may require the services of a certified electrician to ensure dishwasher is properly connected to the electrical junction box.

Has electricity to the house been cut-off? Temporary power outage?

Confirm the operation state of other electrical appliances: are they powered “on”? The dishwasher has "Power Failure compensation" function. The function "PF" protects the dishwasher when the power is cut off. Once power is restored the dishwasher will continue to operate when the power button is pressed. (At this time ‘PF’ is displayed for10 seconds)

While operating does the power cut off at intervals or continually? Does circuit breaker keep triggering “off”?

  • Capacity of circuit breaker is too low, → contact electrician.
  • Make sure dishwasher has a separate circuit. (Power supply: 120V, 60Hz AC only, minimum 15A Circuit breaker.
  • Breaker could be ACFI type and, as such, way too hypersensitive. → contact electrician.

Verify that the power cord is plugged in and fully connected inside junction box

Get a certified electrician to verify that the power cord is plugged in and fully connected inside junction box.

Warning Verify that the black wire is hot (120 V). If not, or if you are unsure of the power supply, have it checked by a licensed electrician.

Avoid the use of an extension cord or power bar

If you are using an extension cord then check the on/off switch on the extension cord.

Using an extension cord is not recommended with your LG dishwasher

If current capacity of extension cord is 14A↓, change the extension cord.(Power supply: 120V, 60Hz AC only, minimum 15A Circuit breaker.)

Other Common Situations:

  • Start button is not pressed - Press the Start button (*).
  • Door is not completely closed - Make sure that the door is completely closed and latched.
  • Power supply or power supply line is not connected - Connect the power supply or power supply line properly.
  • Fuse is blown or circuit breaker tripped - Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker.
  • Control Lock is activated- Deactivate Control Lock.
Note : Should it be determined that the wall AC outlet is providing current, the washing machine's power cord is properly inserted, the circuit breaker has not been tripped or fuse blown and there is still no power when attempting to power "on" the appliance, then the appliance will require a repair service.
