Inspection code can be displayed for error CH61 to protect the product when the temperature of the evaporator of the outdoor unit rises.
The air conditioner uses the theory that ambient temperature drops when refrigerant evaporates.
An example of the theory is that when you spray water onto the road in summer, the water evaporates to make surroundings cool.
Hot air generated from this process is discharged out of the outdoor unit. If ventilation in the outdoor unit chamber is poor,
hot air is not discharged out of the building, and the temperature inside the outdoor unit chamber rises.
To prevent failure of the air conditioner caused by overheat, CH and 61 are alternatively displayed on the stand display.
In such a case, unplug the power cord of the air conditioner, and let hot air well discharged before use.
Causes and Symptoms
- The window of the outdoor unit chamber is closed.
- Articles are stacked beside the outdoor unit to interrupt ventilation.
Try this
Is the window of the outdoor unit chamber closed?
➔ Open the ventilation window or the mosquito net.
If the temperature in the outdoor unit chamber is high, hot air may flow into the air conditioner.
Open the closed window or ventilation window of the outdoor unit chamber.
Are there a number of articles around the outdoor unit?
➔ Remove articles around the outdoor unit to ensure good ventilation.
If articles are stacked around the outdoor unit, hot air from the outdoor unit is not discharged out of the building.
Hot air from the outdoor unit returns to the outdoor unit back.
In such a case, the air conditioner operate under overload to cause higher electric bill and degrading of cooling capability.
Remove articles from the front, the sides and the rear of the outdoor unit for ensuring sufficient ventilation.
Is the outdoor unit installed at height lower than the ventilation window?
➔ Keep the outdoor unit parallel with the ventilation window.
If the outdoor unit is installed at height lower than the ventilation window, some of hot air is not discharged out of the building.
It is desirable to install a stand under the outdoor unit to keep the outdoor unit parallel with the ventilation window.
To install the stand, an installation fee will be charged.
Is the distance between the outdoor unit and the ventilation window great?
➔ If it is not practical to change the position of the outdoor unit, install an air guide.
If the distance between the outdoor unit and the ventilation window too great, ventilation becomes poor, and the temperature inside the outdoor unit chamber may rise.
In such a case, install an air guide to let hot air from the outdoor unit directly discharged out of the building.
Air guides are available at nearby hardware stores, or Internet shopping mall.
