Connecting Sound Bar via HDMI ARC
To fully benefit from your LG Sound Bar we highly recommend hooking it up to your Smart TV via the HDMI ARC (auto return channel) enabling whatever video source viewed on screen to get its respective soundtrack played from the Sound Bar for a more immersive Surround Sound experience, not to mention the limitations of Dolby Digital 5.1 channels from an Optical Digital Audio connection which will never be an issue with HDMI, capable of greater speaker/sound configuration
Audio Return Channel, or ARC, uses a single HDMI connection to send audio from a TV to the sound bar or AV receiver.
Connect HDMI cable to HDMI out on the soundbar and connect the sound bar's HDMI cable to HDMI ARC on the TV.
Press the Menu button on the TV remote.
Then choose the All Settings icon in the bottom-right of the screen.
From the All Settings menu, choose Sound.
From the Sound menu, choose Sound Out.
From the Sound Out menu, choose Audio Out (Optical / HDMI ARC).
From SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) menu, choose On.
If "ARC" is displayed on the sound bar, the ARC connection has been successfully completed.
If you connect the ARC to a third-party, connect the HDMI cable, and contact the manufacturer of the TV for how to set the TV
