What People Are Saying

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A good TV with some POSITIVES and NEGATIVES to consider I know the 55LM7600 is now a superseded unit, but having used this former "flagship" model for 2 years now, here are my thoughts FWIW... The Good: Crisp HD display, smooth 200hz playback, local dimming, DLNA playback over LAN, good wi-fi. The media player is acceptable, but is sorely in need of an update to include more formats or to handle the now common formats in a better way (eg. ISO images and multi-stream formats with selectable subs and surround-sound audio streams, etc). The 3D playback is good, although we're not really fans of the 3D fad, to be honest. The Magic Remote is excellent and intuitive, but it does sometimes get a bit flaky when battery gets low, which is often! To be expected, I suppose, especially since we use it a lot! The Bad: Only 1 year manufacturer's warranty. Warranty periods are less meaningful now under Australian Consumer Law, but a short warranty period for a $2000+ device doesn't inspire confidence. But so far, so good... The web browser is very basic and not very robust, eg. on-screen keyboard won't work on some web-pages. The LG Apps eco-system is very sparse and features mainly casual games and some very average apps. The Android-like Smart TV operating system is very "closed". I would prefer a more open OS with access to the Google Play Store, for example. Of more concern is the fact that this TV "phones home" without your knowledge. It reports playback history including content from LOCAL sources, and collects info for ads and other purposes. Not cool LG! A recent update offered an "Opt-Out" option, but if you opt-out certain Smart TV features will stop working. This was never disclosed at the point-of-sale. Effectively, this cripples some Smart TV features if you opt-out of data collection. And speaking of updates: Software updates don't seem to have improved any Smart TV features. The best media-playback performance I experienced was with the original out-of-the-box factory version, but since then performance seems to have degraded with each update. And there does not appear to be an option to "downgrade" to a previous version. Of late, video playback stutters for no obvious reason. When I examine my router logs it seems the TV is making outbound internet connections in the background even when I'm playing a local file from the TV's USB port. This is intrusive because it affects playback quality. This is a TV first-and-foremost. It should be dedicated to displaying the selected content at maximum quality and performance rather than degrading playback because it's reporting back to head-office...if that is what it's doing. Overall, a great TV to be sure, but privacy concerns leave a bad taste. I suspect that all the major smart-tv brands probably do this, too. For this reason I would most likely consider a different product in future (not a Smart TV), and probably a separate, configurable Smart TV box (or a dedicated Home Theatre PC) rather than be subjected to "data collection" and advertising at the manufacturers' whim. Don't get me wrong, I love LG products. My Nexus4 is the *best* smartphone I've ever owned, and my home has an LG device in virtually every room! But this is an honest review intended to highlight some genuine concerns. I recommend this product for the actual display and as a "dumb" TV. If you don't mind the advertising, the data collection, and the spotty media player performance, then it's an ok smart-TV. 4/5 stars for display, build-quality and styling 0/5 stars for data-collection 3/5 stars for Smart TV features 2.5/5 OVERALL

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic TV by LG After spending some time studying the tech specs and reviews on many different TVs I decided on this one. Wow Im so glad I did my homework because I ended up with a fantastic product. Gaming, sports, movies 3D or 2D and internet capable with the inbuilt WIFI just to name a few. Buy this unit and match it with an LG 3D blue ray player and tuner and you cant go wrong. Well done LG!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent TV This is my first LG TV, the picture quality is amazing and love the design, the 3D outcome is so nice and my family enjoy so much. The one thing I am not happy is the factory warranty only one year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality and Value for money If you want to step into the digital realm then I can highly recommend this range of 3D LED LCD televisions. Crisp quality, a solid refresh rate and having viewed numerous 3D packages the passive version is by far the best. With a whole host of online features and a solid array of inputs. As someone who works in the television industry I could'nt go past the LM7600 range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So many features Spent many weeks checking reviews on this and the 8600 range. Finally settled on the 47" 7600 model. Perfect fit for my size lounge for viewing angles etc. However, when I got it home I found it was better than I thought and there are so many features that it will take a few weeks to get my head around them all. Could not be happier with this TV. Not really "just" a TV, it is my computer, music player, skype and so much more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent TV This TV's UI is really good - LG did a good job (provided the user understands that there are different kinds of inputs: antenna, AV, HDMI, etc.; so the very non-technical user might still have a little trouble). The passive 3D is also great, and the picture is sharp and clear. Receiver is generally better than our other STBs, except that it has been unable to receive any digital SBS channel on several occasions now over Dec-Jan. We've watched a few 3D movies via a separate LG 3D Blu-ray player, with experience comparable to watching at the cinema. No headaches experienced. Only trouble so far has been in connecting an external hard drive - the LG couldn't use it, for reasons that aren't clear so far.
