Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really pleased with the performance. This little portable A/C works very well. We have a 1000 sq ft downstairs area and it keeps it pretty comfortable in the entire area. There is a timer, but it only works to turn the unit on, be nice if it would also turn off the A/C.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Night Shift Worker APPROVED! I work night shift (7p-7a) in a hospital and need quality sleep when I can get it. I was having difficulty sleeping during the day due to being too hot, even with my central AC unit on. My power bill was through the roof, so I needed to find a reliable affordable solution, and this unit was it! I have this in my bedroom and it cools it very nicely. I have actually turned my central AC unit up to a reasonable temperature for the rest of the house and use just this unit to turn my bedroom into my icebox sleeping haven. The unit isn't too loud, actually has a nice consistent hum which acts as white noise and helps drone out other noises which are occurring around my house. This unit has completely turned my sleeping situation around and I am so grateful for it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cool Relief For Us We were in desperate need of an air condition and could not afford to pay a fortune. With no way to find other relief, we finally found this portable unit at an affordable price. We followed the instructions and set it up in our living room to try for maximum area to cool and were instantly pleased with the rush of cool, crisp air that greeted us. After all the problems finding a unit that would work for that part of our home, we are very gratified with what we decided to go with. The LG company certainly has my business for this and other items. THANK YOU, LG for making quality products that last and are easy to use and maintain.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The product is a good value for the money. I think for a small room this thing works great. It's a little loud, but it pushes out a lot of cool air, so the noise is no biggie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Unit so far. Have had this room a/c about 3 weeks and works like a charm. Quiet and nice cold air. Bought from a Home Depot in Columbus, Ohio. Thankfully haven't had issues as some others have reviewed (possible production glitch). .... ...fingers crossed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Have Had to Return Multiple Units As with the previous reviewer, I have had to return this unit 3 times. Perhaps the most recent production run was faulty? The first return was due to a crack in the hose that came with our unit, but the two subsequent returns were due to power issues concerning the unit. It would make a loud buzzing sound and labour intensely to produce cold air. Additionally, the last unit we returned also tripped our breaker twice. The size and cooling ability of this little unit is very ideal, but unfortunately we haven't had one that worked.

Where is the water tank and how do I empty it?

Asked by: BKB1
Unplug the air conditioner, disconnect the exhaust hose from the back and move the unit to a suitable drain location, or outdoors. You may also place a pan under the drain that will hold up to 3 pints of water. Remove the drain cap and the rubber plug from the drain outlet, at the center of the bottom edge of the back of the machine. Once the tank is empty, reinsert the plug and cap. Finish reconnecting the machine, in order to place back in operation. This information is listed on page 20 of your owner’s manual.

My dog ate my power cord. How can we replace this? What kind of cord do we buy?

Asked by: Df13
The power cord for the LG 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP0814WNR is hard wired into the unit and will require taking the unit apart to attach it internally. If it highly recommended that you have a Service Technician re-install it unless you have experience with electronic repairs. The closest Authorized LG Parts Distributor who can identify the correct power cord and that you can order it from is: Andrews Electronics 25158 Avenue Stanford Santa Clarita, CA 91355 Sales : 877-389-6384 Fax : 800-289-0301 ...^IFV

My fiancée and I are currently renting a basement apartment. It has no windows. We would like to order an LG air conditioning unit. But, we are unsure of what to do since we do have any windows. Housing does have two back doors. Could this work?

Asked by: Cp426934
We would need more information about the apartment. What is the square footage for the apartment? Is there an outlet in close proximity to where you would install the Air Conditioner. What type of back doors do you have. The LG 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner, Model # LP0814WNR can adequately cool an estimated area of about 200 square feet. Getting an Air Conditioner with the correct BTU rating for the size of room is important for the unit to work as designed. The power cord for most if not all the portable air conditioners is 6 feet long (1.8 m) and the unit comes with a window venting kit that is designed to be installed in most vertical sliding and casement style windows. The exhaust vent hose for this unit is only 5 feet long and it cannot be lengthened or modified nor can it be replaced with your own hose. Trying to retro fit this in a door may prove a challenge, but more importantly, you wouldn't be able to close the door. You best options which will be a bit more costly, would be a through-the-wall air conditioner or the ductless air conditioners...^IFV

My portable AC unit is leaking water out of the bottom of the unit, anyway to fix this without sending it in?.

Just a few days ago I realized the surrounding area being wet, and looked underneath and the unit is leaking a milky color substance out on to the carpet. When the AC portion is on it constantly drops water. Unit was bought less than two months ago, and has been drained (although it never told me it needed drained). Even after draining, it still leaks water. The leak is coming from the back right wheel.
Asked by: AlecB
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this air conditioner. This device should certainly not be leaking. It seems that there is some manner of leak in the lower drip pan or from the drain port. There may be other points that may need to be inspected by a qualified technician. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at
