What People Are Saying

Rated 3 out of 5 by from RIP: 6/12/16 We have two portable room air conditioners going in our condo at any given time. Have always used LG products. This one, however, didn't quite measure up to your usual quality. Just replaced it w/a 12,000 BTU. Hopefully, it won't have to work quite as hard. I should add that we added another one identical to this one in December, 2015. It's doing well and we are pleased with the performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing portable air conditioner I bought this to use in a hot bedroom I was painting in August. It kept me very cool as I worked. I am looking forward to using it next summer.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I bought this model in May of 2013 and gets used very little. Now the compressor operates for about 5 minutes and then blows room air around. Start-ups in about 15 minutes do the same.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enjoying a cooler house! We live in Western Washington State, where very few houses have air conditioning... it's rarely needed, but this summer has been much warmer than in the past! We purchased our LG portable air conditioning unit on the spur of the moment and have been thoroughly enjoying a much cooler living space with it. The unit was easy to install, and came with everything needed. When on, it cools the air in our open-concept living/dining/kitchen area quickly and efficiently. We are pleased with its' portability and how easy it will be to pack it up to store for the cooler months. The only complaint we have with the unit is that the fan is very noisy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lot of cool for not so much cold cash. Our central unit was going to cost more to repair than I paid for three portable units. As it turned out two units would probably have been sufficient, but it is nice to have the spare when needed. We can put the cool where we want it instead of a central unit's putting it in places we don't need it.

How do we drain the unit?

Asked by: Arnoldzoo
When the internal water collection tank is full, the LED display will show FL and the air conditioner will turn off until the tank is emptied. Unplug the air conditioner, disconnect the exhaust hose from the back, and move the air conditioner to a suitable drain location or outdoors. You may also place a pan under the drain that will hold up to 2 pints of water. Remove the drain cap from the drain outlet. Once the water collection tank is drained, reinstall the drain cap, making sure it is on securely. Place the air conditioner in the desired location, reconnect the exhaust hose, and plug in the air conditioner.

I have two questions. 1: I have the 10,000 LG Portable AC and it works well but I have to drain it twice in a 24 hour period. I do live in DFW Texas. Normal? I hear others do once a 2. Where can I get an exhaust hose extention and a drain hose?

Asked by: JoeT80
We appreciate your interest in this air conditioner and its options. Depending upon the temperature and the humidity level, some people will have to drain the tank more frequently than others. If the machine is still cooling properly, then this should be considered normal operation. This air conditioner has not been designed to operate with any extensions for the exhaust hose.

I've had my air conditioner running for about a month now.  It's blowing coolish air, but hasn't collected any water to drain out the bottom at the back of the unit.  Last year, when I had the unit running, I had to drain the water often. Whats going on?

We purchased a refubished one of this model, we installed it, and we've had it on all day and the temperature has stayed at 86 the whole day. Is there anything we can do to improve its cooling before attempting to return it? We'd like to stick with this 1

Asked by: Rachel889
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this air conditioner. The air in the room should have dropped below this temperature, unless the display continues with the same reading. Please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 to troubleshoot this matter.

just bought an LG 10,000 btu portable air conditioner. how much does it cost to run a day in electricity?

Asked by: deem
We appreciate your interest in this Portable Air Conditioner. The amount of energy used in a day will depend upon the amount of time in which it is run, and also with the local temperature. Both of these can drastically affect the operations of the machine.

How can I stop this unit from blowing the fan every 5 min instead of blowing cold air

Asked by: Pat1223
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this air conditioner. The description given sounds like one of the models that has an ENERGY SAVING mode is active. If this is not the case, then the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair/support-repair-provider-lookup.jsp.

The air is cool for 30 sec, then hot for 5 min then cool for 30 sec, why is this happening?

Asked by: Sjjdj
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this air conditioner. It is recommended first to see how hot it is outside the room. The ambient temperature can directly affect the performance of the A/C. In what size room has this unit been installed? If a unit is too large, then the cooling system will run a short cycle (turn on and off continuously), cooling the immediate area around the unit, but not the rest of the room. A smaller device may be required. If this does not appear to be the case, then please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

I am just starting to use my unit for the summer and it has a really strong musty smell and I am looking to see if there is a filter that needs to be cleaned but I don't see one. Is there one to be cleaned and if so where?

Asked by: EScott
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this Portable Air Conditioner. According to pages 8 and 21 of the owner’s manual, there are 2 air filters available on this air conditioner which will need to be cleaned. If this does not resolve the matter for you, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 for additional assistance.
