What People Are Saying

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 74 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Enjoying a cooler house! We live in Western Washington State, where very few houses have air conditioning... it's rarely needed, but this summer has been much warmer than in the past! We purchased our LG portable air conditioning unit on the spur of the moment and have been thoroughly enjoying a much cooler living space with it. The unit was easy to install, and came with everything needed. When on, it cools the air in our open-concept living/dining/kitchen area quickly and efficiently. We are pleased with its' portability and how easy it will be to pack it up to store for the cooler months. The only complaint we have with the unit is that the fan is very noisy. August 12, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A lot of cool for not so much cold cash. Our central unit was going to cost more to repair than I paid for three portable units. As it turned out two units would probably have been sufficient, but it is nice to have the spare when needed. We can put the cool where we want it instead of a central unit's putting it in places we don't need it. July 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by I am very happy with this product. I especially like the dual filter system. The product works as intended and up to expectations. July 11, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Nice air conditioner this is so much better than a window air conditioner. the fan blows like a hurricane, I really like it. May 19, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by "My Little Air Cooling Robot" I love this little modern cooling machine on wheels!! It is so much more appealing to look at than those metal box hunks of junk I use to stick in the window!! Window units are so dangerous when you live high up in an apartment building. Being able to roll my ac around indoors makes my life and sleep time so much more relaxing and comfortable!!! I totally recommend this indoor aerodynamic remote control cooling machine to everyone!!! Rated 5 out of 5 by overall its better than our window ac i recommend it highly its very quiet compared to other portable a/c August 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Keeping my cool This is my second portable A/C and it is living up to its reputation. Easy to use. Love having a remote. Excellent unit for the price. August 14, 2014

Just bought 10,000 btu unit today and the compressor runs for about 30 seconds and then shuts off. Wont cool the room off one bit doing this.

We regret your dissatisfaction with the operations of this air conditioner. There are no settings by which the air conditioner will stay on constantly. The closest that it will come would be the 2- or 4- hour ON/OFF setting. If you have any questions on this matter, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.

I believe the number/temp that it goes back to is the temperature in the room.

Answer:
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this air conditioner. The displayed temperature is supposed to be the set temperature, and not the room temperature. If this display returns to its pre-set reading, then it seems that it is not operating properly. The unit will likely require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at http://www.lg.com/us/support/repair....

It isn't listed as a swamp cooler, but one of the reviews mentioned that it held 72 pints of water.

Thanks

You don't need to add water to the tank - it holds 72 pints of water that you will have to empty when it is full.

Answer:
This model has a AUTO EVAPORATION SYSTEM.
Its DRY (Dehumidify) mode is used to remove humidity from the room without additional cooling. - That is what the water tank is for :)

If I set the thermostat to 50 and it never reached that temperature, would it run continuously all night? Or would it still turn off at some point? Thank you!

Answer:
If you set it to 50 f and the room was cooler than that then the fan would run but the compressor wouldn't come on to make it cooler. The timer on the remote would allow you to shut it down at a time you felt it would be unneeded.

I asked this question previously (slightly different details), but I am not satisfied with the answer. Someone else had asked about whether they could have the compressor run continuously and a staff member replied:
"There are no settings by which the air conditioner will stay on constantly. The closest that it will come would be the 2- or 4- hour ON/OFF setting.... "

Just to clarify, does this mean that no matter where you set the thermostat, at some point it will shut off during the night?

I"m asking because the loud noise of the compressor turning on and then off would wake me up. Thanks!

Check the manual. I do believe this unit has a continuous run setting...meaning the compressor will continue to run regardless of the temperature.

Answer:
We regret your dissatisfaction with the previous response. It is not possible to decrease the temperature setting to ‘0’ degrees Fahrenheit. The thermostat of this model should be able to be set at any temperature between 60 and 86 degrees. It is normal for the compressor to cycle on and off at different times. According to page 12 of the owner’s manual for this model, “in COOL or DRY mode, the thermostat in the air conditioner will run the compressor until the set temperature is reached, then cycle the compressor on and off to maintain the set temperature.”
