What People Are Saying

Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very Dissapointed I live in the country in Southern KY and had to drive an hour and a half to buy the unit from Home Depot. I was very excited about getting it. When I got it home home it was fairly easy to set up. After about 2 hrs the temp had only dropped about 2 degrees. So, I let it run overnight, and it did not make any difference. Yesterday it was blowing out only slightly cool air. I called the trouble number, and the lady instructed me to unplug the unit so it could reset. This I did and it started blowing out very cold air. BUT, this morning, awoke to a stuffy living room. Again, once I reset the unit, it starting blowing cold again. Sorry I can't stay home to babysit this unit. It will be going back to Home Depot. Rated 2 out of 5 by I expected great things from this unit I purchased this 500 square-foot unit for my garage which is an insulated 500 square-foot space. It is a June day with temps in the low to mid 80s and humid outside. The garage was 81 degrees. The unit has been running on high for almost 12 hours now and the garage is only down to 75°F. Not really what I wanted or I expected. I have a very straight short shot out of the wall for the exhaust. When I go outside and hold my hand in front of the exhaust duct, it is blowing a very high CFM. My thought is that the unit is pulling in outside air into the garage to make up for the high CFM exhaust it is pushing out. Pulling in the hot humid make-up air is probably one reason it is not cooling well. The duck itself is very warm when touching it. I do plan on insulating the short 18 inch section that leads to the outdoors. This will help a small amount. I've had small window air conditioners that would freeze you out with the same circumstances. Sorry LG, I'm dissatisfied. June 14, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 PIECE OF GARBAGE -run away!! I had high hopes for these units. Most of the reviews are recent and initially you will be impressed. I HAVE FOUR OF THESE UNITS AND ALL FOUR HAVE FAILED. Two during the warranty, and then all 4 outside the warranty. ALL FOUR OF THEM LEAKED EVERYWHERE!!!! One completely stopped heating, two of them can't heat or cool correctly. The pumps fail (known issue according to the technician). Run away from these as fast as you can. At this price, problems with one wouldn't be acceptable, problems with four just show major quality issues. December 1, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by 14,000 BTU has great features I would recommend it but not getting the floor model. I also think that they should make the Exhaust hose more durable because mine broke 2 times now and I am waiting for another replacement. Other than that, I would say it's worth it. I bought mine 10/25/12 which isn't that long ago. January 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent product Use it in a basement family room. Works very well. Have had it for one month and no problems and have not had to drain. September 5, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 Im Cool looks Cool. It works great so Im Cool. All is Cool. I have casement windows so had to make a Temp window/AC vent out of Screen frame and heavy plastic... Nice Poduct July 13, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Overall Design I have purchased a LG LP1411SHR Portable Air Conditioner. Given that LG rhymes with quality and the best bang for the buck. The air flow is excellent on a low setting. The design is innovative for the vents to open up automatically to decrease dust accumulation. The touchpad settings are larger than is offered on the market. Finally, the installation was a breeze with the high quality grade plastics for the windows. May 29, 2012
Rated 4 out of 5 by LG ac/heater So far the item is working wonderful. It doesn't require a lot of maintenance. It is not noisy and heat up pretty well from one bedroom to the bathroom and the other room. we loved it during the hot summer. The 3 speed fan modes which also has the option to swing up and down is convenient specially for the a/c mode. or just the fun without either heater or a/c mode. Digital control on the device itself and the control too beeps everytime a button is pressed. With the remote control I don't have to get up to change the settings specially at night while my daughters are asleep; the control screen lights up when you turn it on. The dehumidifier setting is also included. Drain hose connection and the vent hose are included too. October 27, 2011

Answer:
No, it doesn't come with a hose. I have the same one and there is no hoses at all, only exhaust that looks like the dryer hoses but not to drain it.
Hope that helped.

Answer:
This portable air conditioner does not have a drain at the top of the casing. The highest “hose” on the unit is the exhaust hose and diffuser that is to connect the unit to the window, and out, to prevent the warm / hot air off the coils from venting back into the room, and defeating the purpose of having an air conditioner.

LP1411SHR has 2 filters, manual only mentions 1. Should I clean both?

Fantastic unit. Upper filter is fine, easy to remove & clean. Lower, larger filter has a handle, but doesn't come out (easily). Should I pull harder? Or, should I not clean the lower filter at all?

Answer:
You have to clean both of the filters otherwise your unit won't work properly. Yes, the bottom one is harder to get off but you have the handle like you know and you just have to pull on it but also hold the side of it and pull it off to the left if you are standing in front of it. Just BE CAREFUL when you do it and you will be fine.

The a/c unit will work harder if you don't clean them when they look dirty. They said once a week but I believe you need to check to make sure on your own to see if it is dusty. You can see right through the plastic and see the dust.
I think it is great that you don't have to go out and buy a filter like the central air that I use to have. That is costly because you would buy a filter and it would say it is good for 3 months but it is all according to your house and I would have to change mine every month.
Good Luck and I hope that I helped.

We appreciate your interest in this portable air conditioner. If you have available access to the filter, without having to open the casing of the product, then it would be recommended to clean any accessible filter.

What are the dimensions of the LP1411SHR when the exhaust hose is connected, i.e. how much space is needed behind the unit?

How long is the exhaust hose that comes with the unit. Are they at least 2 feet long? If not, are there other longer ones that can be purchased?

Answer:
I bought my unit 10/25/12 and I already in 3 days have gone through that dumb Exhaust hose 2 times and getting another one this monday. They do not make them durable enough. They crack and also get holes in them easy. I would say that it is atleast 2 feet long stretched out but I wouldn't suggest keeping it stretched out because if you are using it for the a/c it sends hot air outside through that exhaust. If you stand outside the window, it will keep you nice and warm and the pressure is very powerful outside.
Hope that helps.
Good Luck

The exhaust hose is 5.9 inches long and you'd need about 4 inches in of clearance for it.

Does the water drain or enter a tank and evaporate?

The lower power units 12,000 BTU and 13,000 BTU units use an evaporative process but the tank can fill and require emptying - I cannot tell if this unit is the same technology or if it truly drains the water meaning there is no tank to empty (which is my preference)

LP1411SHR unit is 14000 BTU Air conditioner and heater.
Unit have tank for water, but I cant locate it nor empty it.
There is always condensation on top of unit and every time I turn it off water is pouring out on the floor. Sometimes when is very humid there is gallon of water on the floor like puddle after rain.

Would not buy this unit again if I knew this would happen

Thank you for your question. The LP1411SHR has a collection tank that you will have to pour out when it gets full. There will be a display reading "FL" when full.

P2 code?

Answer:
Hello and thank you for contacting us. If you have the P2 or FL error code displaying, that means the water collection tank is full. You would need to drain the tank.

If the code more so resembles the F2 code, that means the unit is in FAN mode and that is the fan speed that is displaying.

If it is in fact a P2 error and after emptying the tank it does not go away, try to reset the unit by unplugging it for a few minutes then see if it disappears. If it does not, we recommend you contact our Customer Service at 800-243-0000 as you may need service.
