What People Are Saying

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 402 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Dish Washer We love this dishwasher and its features. Does a great job in cleaning and is extremely quiet. The only con I can comment on is that the wash time for a normal wash is very long (over 2 hours). You can shorten the wash cycle by selecting Quick and Dry or Quick. August 2, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best appliance we bought!! We just built a new house and moved in on Thursday July 25, 2014. The first time we used the new dishwasher we had installed I had to check to make sure it was turned on. It was so amazingly quiet we couldn't believe it. And, the dishes come out squeaky clean without spots. We also love the convenient rack system that keeps the dishes separated while being washed. We knew LG wouldn't let us down and they certainly didn't! July 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 Love my dishwasher Easy to use, great features. love all the adjustable shelves & racks July 5, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Solid Dishwasher Have only had this dishwasher for three months which is the reason for not giving an "Excellent" overall rating. Very simple to use and extremely pleased with the outcome of my dishes. I love the flexibility of being able to load the dishes in unlimited configurations. We live in an area that has very hard water and I am very happy with the way this dishwasher handles this issue. Love the different wash settings and with each I've had streak-free sparkling dishes every time. June 7, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good looking/Quiet/High Quality/High Performance I've had this dishwasher since January 2014 and am embarrassed to say that I have used it only a half dozen times. I'm still renovating and haven't started entertaining to any great degree yet. The adjustable top rack is a new innovation for me and very convenient. This unit is so quiet I have to check the lights to confirm that it is running. My only criticism is that the control buttons are very hard to read and would suggest back-lighting them for easier viewing. The machine cleans thoroughly and efficiently and I recommend it to everyone who is looking for a new dishwasher. May 22, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Very quiet and stylish This dishwasher is extremely quiet. The rack dividers fold down to accommodate any dish. I like the silverware dividers as well. The only problem I've had is that my glasses are coming out foggy. I never had this issue with my previous dishwasher and haven't been using a different detergent or rinse aid. May 16, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very Poor Performance and quality This is the worst dishwasher I have ever owned. The features seemed like they would simplify the loading and washing process but they only prolonged the process. The top rack always falls off the track. The plates fall over and rest on each other therefore they do not get cleaned properly. The silverware baskets disconnect when you lift them up from the dishwasher rack. The silverware also does not get cleaned properly even using the specific slots which separate them from each other. The dishwasher door doesn't get cleaned, there is always a nasty dripping residue coming from the detergent compartment. The only benefit of this dishwasher is that its extremely quiet. My husband works at Best Buy and never recommends this product to anyone. May 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pretty & efficient I love my new LG dishwasher. It's sleek on the outside & makes sense on the inside, cleans great, dries great, is quiet & makes a nice pleasant sound when it's done. I definitely recommend this product. May 8, 2014

In the list of dishwashers specifications one criteria is called "Tall Tub", yes or no. How is this specification defined?

Answer:
Dishwashers may come in standard or tall tub designs; standard tub dishwashers have a service kickplate beneath the dishwasher door that allows for simpler maintenance and installation, but tall tub dishwashers have approximately 20% more capacity and better sound dampening from having a continuous front door.

Water Spots

I just had my dishwasher installed in January, and no matter where I put them I get water spots on my glasses. They are clearly spots where the rack is touching the glass, and look like they may also have residue from the detergent or the Finish rinse. What am I doing wrong? I'm feel like I'm losing my mind, and getting really frustrated, I must be missing something. In the meantime, I'm ruining my glasses.

Answer:
I switched to liquid Cascade and don't fill the soap cup all the way full. There is also an adjustment on the amount of rinsing agent that is dispensed. It is located on the opening where you add the rinsing agent. I've set my machine to use a second rinse. Also make sure nothing is hindering the spray arms from turning.

You are doing nothing wrong! I have the same problem. I am so disappointed in this washer I can feel the soapy residue & my dishes are always still dripping with water after the extremly long cycle no matter which one I put it on. My old on the verge of breaking down washer did a better job than this one!!

Answer:
I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your dishwasher. Maybe it is your detergent? Have you tried a different kind? Are you using the rinse agent? Those are the only things I could think of. I have not had that problem at all with my LG.

Answer:
There is no mascerator in this model, but there is a trap cylinder so that larger bits of food will be caught before washing down or clogging. This cylinder just needs to be emptied periodically (typically you can smell it when it needs to be cleaned).

Can an electrical plug be attached or should it be wired direct?

My LDF7551ST dishwasher will be delivered soon. Remodeling my entire kitchen. Electrician installed a recepticle for the dishwasher. Cabinet installer said the plug may be in the way and not allow the unit to be properly installed. Would it have been better to hard wire the dishwasher?

Answer:
The dishwasher does not come with a plug; it has to be purchases separately. I don't see why it could not be hardwired. The wires are free on the dishwasher and if you are going to be using a plug, you would have to attach the wires of the plug to the wires of the dishwasher. If you have the hard wire coming from the house, I would imagine you could just do a direct wire connect from the dishwasher to the wires of the house.

Answer:
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced. It is not recommended to have this dishwasher hardwired to your electrical system. According to the installation instructions, it appears to be recommended to have the electrical outlet located in the cabinet next to the dishwasher.

Answer:
Lg had inclosed Finish Quantum detergent with my new dishwasher. The 1st one I used dissolved. The next 2 did not. I use Cascade along with the Finish Drying, also furnished, and my dishes are clean. My old silverware looks new and no spots on glasses. My old dishwasher had left my pots with a white looking permanent film and now with the help of the stainless cleaner I bought and the fact it's not being added with this new washer I am delighted. Hope this answers your question.

Answer:
Only use detergent intended for automatic dishwashers. Incorrect detergent may cause the dishwasher to fill with suds during operating. Excess sudsing may reduce wash performance and may cause the dishwasher to leak. DO NOT use hand dish washing detergent in this dishwasher. Too much detergent can leave a film on dishes and in the dishwasher, resulting in poor wash performance.
