What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Dishwasher A couple of months old far so good. It is SUPER quiet. It is easy and to load and easily adjusted for various sizes. It cleans absolutely perfect. The black stainless is fantastic. The controls are easy to use. I have notice a foul smell and this is a concern. My last dishwasher had a terrible smell all the time and I am afraid I might have the same problem with this one. If so...I will not be a happy camper!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and 3rd Rack is qreat I bought this about 6 months ago and don't have any problems with it's performance and with it's many cycle selections I can choose what is appropriate for my specific load. Many of the bad reviews list problems where the solution is actually in the owners manual. To get a good energy rating or an Energy Star rating, a heater can't be used for the drying of the dishes. Using hot water and the built in heater during the rinse cycle gets the dishes hot so when it dries it circulates the hot moist air with a fan through a chamber and the moisture condenses and is drained. Rinse aid is required to sheet the water into a thin layer on the dishes making drying easier. However the dishes that are easiest to dry are the ones that are dense like metal, glass and ceramic because they hold heat and allow the water to completely or almost completely evaporate. Plastic dishes don't hold much heat so are seldom completely dry. If you wish, you can try the sanitize cycle where the water gets much hotter and see if that helps with your drying. Also note, try to never open the door when it's in the drying cycle. You will let out much of the heat that is required for drying. If you do open the door, it is most likely your dishes will not dry at all. As far as leaving a film, you must realize that the dishwasher doesn't come with whatever is coating your dishes as part of the machine but it's what you or your water is adding to the machine. This is where you need to read the manual and adjust your rinse aid settings. Since most soaps now come in a packet with rinse aid you may need to start with setting the machine to it's lowest rinse aid setting first. Getting the lower rack to go in can sometimes be difficult but whatever you do don't force it. If you bend a wheel it will be difficult almost every time you try to push it in. Remember the lower rack is trying to bridge the gap between the door and the cabinet. If they put it on rails to prevent this you would not be able to remove the bottom rack. Knowing what to expect from this machine will allow you to enjoy it and appreciate it. As I said, most bad reviews listed have the answers listed in the owners manual which makes me believe they are not reading the manuals and then jump on sites to complain. Appliances are getting more sophisticated and technical and are no longer intuitive and reading the manual is becoming necessary just as many of the items we now purchase. Try buying a different brand of Smart Phone than the one you currently have and try to operate it without reading any of the instructions and see how that works out for you.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from poor performance dishwasher LDF7774st We purchased this dishwasher a year ago. in 34 years this is the worst dishwasher we have purchased. The bottom rack falls of track all the time and never cleans the dishes even after pre-wash by hand and trying several dishwashing products . Glasses are cloudy . Very Disappointed !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the timer! Had this for about a month, got it while updating our kitchen. The black stainless steel is beautiful with our granite countertops. Love the 3rd rack for all those small pieces that just don't fit anywhere else. Although it does not have a heated dry cycle all of the dishes have come out looking very clean and dry. I love that it has a countdown to when the cycle will be completed and it is very quiet overall.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love love love it We have had the LG dishwasher for 3 months and couldn't be happier. It has lots of room for just about anything. It cleans stuck on food. It is very quiet. The third rack is more useful than I thought it would be. My only problem is it is difficult to see the words on the buttons and I have to turn on a side light. The plates do fall forward but I think they get a better clean that way. I like the slant to the middle rack so the water drains off of the cups, etc. I highly recommend this dishwasher.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaky Dishwasher Purchased this and an entire suite of appliances from Costco. Brand new dishwasher has a leak and went thru process of getting service to repair. Called the authorized repair center and they said LG does not pay their bill and to call LG back as LG knows this. What a run around. Still waiting for service. On hold forever etc....

how do you get the panel to come on? it beeps buy nothing happens

Asked by: billiedavis
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this dishwasher. Open the dishwasher door. Press the POWER button. Press and hold the RINSE and SPRAY buttons for 3 seconds. This should deactivate the CHILD LOCK function if it has been activated. If this is not the case, then the unit may require service. To make service arrangements, you may either contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000, or you can check our Repair Provider Lookup on our website, at

Date published: 2016-07-30 there a stainless panel available for the bottom trim of machine..mine is only a rough, "raw" looking black panel w/ visible silver screws. I want to cover it, what do you suggest? Thanks

Asked by: Elll
I apologize, but no; the only panel available for the bottom trim of this dishwasher is that which has been described. Part of this reasoning is so the trim plate will not have an appearance which might require cleaning so close to the floor.

I am having trouble with the soap dispenser not opening all the way.  The soap did not drop out of the dispenser on a few occasions.  I think it is too small and the soap gets stuck.  What soap do you recommend?

Asked by: LG Lifes Good
One of the most frequent causes for a dishwasher not dispensing is that a part in the dispenser is broken or that the spring for the dispenser compartment has detached. That might be why the dispenser door on your LG Top Control Dishwasher w/ Height Adjustable 3rd Rack, Model # LDF7774BB is not opening fully and why when the main control board sends a voltage signal to the detergent dispenser, it does not always open. If a dispenser part is broken and you don’t want to disassemble the detergent dispenser to replace the part, you can just replace the entire dispenser. As for what detergent to use, there are so many detergents available and we do not recommend any specific detergent. Our advise on that is that you only use detergent intended for use with automatic dishwashers...^IFV

Is there a way to just do a dry cycle. The dishes are still coming out wet even with the extra dry option selected and the rinse aid added. As well as with the extra rinse.

Asked by: David A1
I apologize, but no; this dishwasher has not been designed with a DRY ONLY cycle available. The dishwasher does not rely on a heating element for the drying process; instead, it relies on the heat that is retained by the dishes and the tub during the wash and rinse cycles to turn the moisture in the tub into humidity. Warm, moist air in the dishwasher is then pulled into a condensing duct in the door by a fan. The air then cools, which causes the humidity to condense. Room temperature air is also drawn into the duct to help the air cool down faster. When this moisture condenses into a liquid, it is drained out. Drying performance is directly affected by the amount of heat that remains in the tub after the heated rinse is performed. If your dishwasher is far away from your home’s hot water heater, it may be necessary to run the hot water tap in the sink before starting a wash cycle, to ensure that cool water is purged from the hot water lines. This will ensure your dishwasher has a consistent supply of hot water from start to finish. Using the Sanitary Rinse setting will also aid in keeping the inner drum temperature and dishes hotter before drying begins. LG dishwashers are designed to be used in conjunction with a rinse aid. Using a rinse aid will maximize the amount of water that has already been sheeted away from the dishes before the dry cycle begins. If a rinse aid is used and the performance still needs a boost, adjust the amount of rinse aid used by the indicator on the rinse aid cap. 4 is the default setting, but if necessary, set the level to 5 so more rinse aid will be used. Allow the dishwasher to completely finish the dry cycle before opening the door. If the door is opened mid dry cycle, the heat that is necessary for the hybrid dry system to work will escape. This will cause all of the dishes inside to remain wet once the cycle finishes.
