What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect NYC fridge People living in smallish apartments either alone or with one other person so do not need huge suburban refrigerators for a family of 5. This LG is terrific after over a month. Silent. Cold. Excellent vegetable, crisper. PLENTY of room. And best of all, it's a bottom-freezer unit. Frankly all fridges should be like this. How many times a day do you hunt for ice cream or,frozen hamburger vs. how many do you grab some milk?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Capacity in a Compact Package I purchased this refrigerator 3 months ago and had it installed 9 days later. Having had endless problems with my former frig, each and every tiny sound coming out of my new LG made me nervous, but that didn't last long. This refrigerator has worked perfectly and quietly -- to my absolute delight. What especially attracted me was the large freezer capacity. My only regret is that this model LG left me with an additional 11" of unused width which I filled with a rolling cart. It would have been just perfect if this refrigerator would have been about 10" wider. The height and depth are perfect. All-in-all, I am absolutely delighted with the appearance and functionality of my new LG refrigerator.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nearly Perfect I bought this about 6 months ago and overall love it. I replaced a traditional top freezer fridge that I had for about 10 years. Anyway, I had limited width (my old fridge had NO space around it), so I went for this model. It is narrower than a traditional fridge, but it holds tons of food. FREEZER: The freezer drawers (4 total) are great for organizing. The downside is that none of the drawers is big enough to hold a cookie sheet (I bake a lot), but it can hold an 9x9 pan, so that's just an adjustment. And I now have enough room to store the ice cream bowl attachment from my stand mixer (think of the 5.5 qt mixing bowl) plus other items (including 1/2 leg of lamb) in one of the drawers. The top drawer is for ice trays. It came with a tiny tray (with tiny cubes), but my old trays fit perfectly. I've had ice makers before; they are great if no one else makes ice and you constantly find yourself pulling out an empty tray. I like this smaller drawer that keeps the trays separate from the rest of the frozen food. I have not tried to put a large turkey in the freezer, but I think I could by removing one of the drawers and putting that 20 pounder in a lower drawer. BTW, my mom's side by side can't hold a large turkey. FRIDGE: I love the fridge on top, and find that I'm more aware of what is in the fridge now, since I'm not bending over and digging through to the back of the fridge (I'm 5'7"). The crisper drawer is great--I actually think it keeps the veggies longer. It took me awhile to get used to the light which runs vertically at the back of the fridge--I found it harsh at first (LED brightness), but quickly got used to it. For all the room of the freezer, the refrigerator is not huge, but I find that a godsend. I can see everything in the fridge and seriously, how many outdated condiments do you have in your fridge? The door shelves are good. I can easily keep my filtered water pitcher in the door. I do store quart milk in the fridge, not on the door, same with eggs, but 6 eggs and quarts (2) of milk easily fit on the door. EXTERIOR: I love the curved front. It's a smooth, shiny white. No textures to trap dirt. No handle. I hadn't thought about that when I bought it. I used to keep a hand towel there, but had to find a new location for it. Since I'm tall(ish), I open from the top most of the time, but there is a grab area at the bottom of the fridge door. The top of the fridge has a metal plate that is in the center of the top. This makes the top not particularly good for storing things. I used to keep my canisters on the top of the fridge (very small kitchen), so I had to relocate them. As with most new refrigerators, the front does not hold most magnets. I have three timers, which I now keep on one side of the fridge. Not a big deal, but if you're married to your magnets of the countries you've visited.... The front does support (hold up) a photo magnet (the flexible sheet kind of magnet). SETTINGS: The coldness settings are great. They are right at the top of the open front door (no more ducking and reaching to the back of the fridge to see/adjust the coldness). Also, I love the open door feature--a quiet ding to let you know the door has been open for a minute(?). Perfect for kids, "just looking." Overall, I'm quite happy with my purchase, and highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great refrigerator! I bought this refrigerator several months ago as an addition for more space. This was the perfect choice! It's compact size fit perfectly in a separate laundry room. The freezer is more spacious than I imagined. Wonderful for those extra "on sale" items that I hate to pass up. The refrigerator is great for extra soda and beer when entertaining. Very very pleased with this high quality LG product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great with a few design dislikes I loved my older version of this fridge that died after 10 years. Without hesitation, I ordered this new model. I love the amount of space for its footprint. It is flush with the cabinet, and has the best bottom freezer design I could find (three smaller drawers instead of one big one). However, I have a few design dislikes about this one: 1) the color is "smooth white," but the sides are textured white. 2) the top is not flat. There is a metal plate about 12 x 12 x .75 inches (picture an upside down baking sheet) screwed onto the top. I am losing precious space because it prevents my Vitamix and storage bins from sitting flat. 3) the handles that were previously white are now black so it looks like my white fridge has a big, black, toothless grin I still love it though and am working on adjusting to the changes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excllent product This is the second LG fridge, I loved it that much! Bright, clean, compact but stores a lot. It fits in my small kitchen and is nice to look at. the drawers in the freezer keep everything organized and maximizes storage potential.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and effective Bought it about a year ago. Needed this EXACT size. It's about 23 3/4 inches wide, fits exactly in the space I have for it. Super quiet. Wish the freezer were smaller so I have more fridge space, but other that that, I love it!!!!!! I needed a QUIET fridge and this is absolutely the quietest I have found. I lined the back of the closet with a blanket (with about 6" of space between the fridge and the back of the closet) and that cut down on noise (also padded under the fridge with cardboard). It is quiet, it fits, it's perfect!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great design I bought this one month ago. I love it. It is small but the design is so good that all the space is usable. The see through drawers in the freezer are especially useful as is the ice tray.

I have two questions: 1. Does this refrigerator have separate temperature sensors in the refrigerator and freezer sections? 2. Will it operate sufficiently in an unheated garage? Thank you.

Asked by: Gregg22
The LG 10 cu. ft. Large Capacity 2-Door Bottom Mount Refrigerator, Model # LBN10551SW has separate temperature sensors for the refrigerator and freezer compartments. The default temperature in the refrigeration and freezing compartments is 3 °C(37 °F) and -20 °C(-4 °F), respectively. It should be installed in an area where the temperature is between 55°F (13°C) and 110°F (43°C). If the temperature around the appliance is too low or high, cooling ability may be adversely affected...^IFV

How to put fridge on demo mode ?

Asked by: Adoreaab
We appreciate your interest in this refrigerator. This model does not appear to have a DEMO mode. The closest that it may have would be the VACATION mode, which is activated simply by pressing the VACATION button on the display panel.

My refrigerator leans backwards slightly. The men who installed it said this is not a problem, and that this is by design so that the door will close by itself if left open. Is this correct?

Asked by: Carol4550
We appreciate your interest in this refrigerator. While it does not hurt to have a slight elevation in the front of the refrigerator, and for such a purpose, the angle should not be large. Adjustment can be made to the stabilizing feet on the front corners of the cabinet. For additional information, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000 for assistance in this matter.

Hi - thanks in advance ! Can the glass / plastic shelves be cleaned in the dishwasher ? B/c when I turn over the shelf (while taken out for cleaning), there is "gunk" in between the glass and plastic (underside), and the glass is not removable.

Asked by: Veronica Versa
We appreciate your interest in this refrigerator and its accessories. According to our documentation, it is recommended only to hand-wash these door bins. There is no problem with allowing the bin to soak before washing, but it is not recommended to place these in a dishwasher.

How do you adjust the freezer to colder more lights lit or less lights lit

Asked by: Lsrn31983
We appreciate your interest in this refrigerator and its display. Both the refrigerator and freezer compartment will produce colder air as the indicator light nears the right side of the display.
