What People Are Saying

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overall a good refrigerator - brittle plastic. Perfectly good, functional, sleek refrigerator. Very good ice production and storage efficiency. Only complaint (important one): all of the plastic within the interior of the refrigerator (surrounding glass shelving) is extremely brittle, and even more so when very cold. When removing the glass shelving to clean, there is a high likelihood that some of the plastic will break. Within 90 days of purchase, I had 2 cracks in the plastic around glass shelving.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality components I bought this model from Sears about 2 years ago. It is made by LG but has a Sears label on it. My previous fridge worked for 18 years without a single repair call. When the fridge came, the door lights were not working properly, but everything else worked so I ignored it. Then the switch malfunctioned even more and the exhaust fan was not working, but the compressor continued working. The fridge stopped cooling. The repair person who came said that this would be the lest of my problems. Compressors and other mechanical parts would fail, and I would be lucky to have only 2 repair calls a year. In addition, I had to shut the fridge off for 48 hours to clear the ice off of the cooling fins because of the fan failure. I will lose a few hundred dollars worth of food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! We needed a replacement for our 30 yr. old 24 cu. ft. refrigerator with reverse door capability that fit a 35inch opening. Most other refrigerators that fit the existing opening had less capacity than the LG. I evaluated the model on-line at the LG website, it was exactly what we were looking for. Installed 3 months ago, we are very pleased with the performance of this fine refrigerator. We also hear the ‘not-so-bad’ wonderful sound of replenishing ice cubes in copious amounts, exactly like other auto ice makers we’ve had. Many choices for interior shelving arrangements and a huge freezer area. So far, very satisfied.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great size for smaller opening The fridge works great, and it is fairly large given our smaller opening. Our food no longer gets lost inside. The fridge is bright and the food is easy to see and is easily accessible. I only have two minor concerns about the fridge. First, the middle shelf, which runs the width of the fridge (resulting in more space than two separate shelves!) doesn't have a center support. So far that doesn't seem to be a problem, but I worry about it warping in the long run. Second, the fridge operates with a slight electronic hum. It is MUCH quieter than our prior fridge, which made more of a mechanical noise when cooling. But the electronic hum grates on me a bit at times. Still, this wouldn't affect my decision to purchase it again. We looked at a lot of fridges and this was definitely a great choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Largest fridge to fit in the available opening We have looked for so long for a replacement fridge to fit the opening in our kitchen and this was just perfect. We wanted to stay with a frrezer on the bottom. Plenty of room and so far so good. I do not get the noise in the icemaker that some reviewrs mention. We are very happy with this unit and only wish there is a way to guard against prints on the stainless steel finish.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Freezer has major design flaw Nice appliance, good looking, works well, a bit noisy on start-up of cycle, lots of room. But the freezer has a major design flaw: items can fall over the back of the drawers and lodge in the well of the drawer. At this point, the freezer drawer jams, and cannot be closed. The fix requires that the sliding drawer be emptied, and removed, in order that you can reach over and behind the drawer to retrieve the fallen item. It happens frequently and is a major pain. Some sort of a blocking screen needs to be added.

It never seems to have a clean look to it have tried every cleaning solution possible- starting to wonder if it's really stainless steel

Asked by: Dee Dee
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this refrigerator. The finish is, in fact, stainless steel. Be certain that, when cleaning and/or polishing and buffing the unit, that the cleaning motion runs with the grain of the metal, rather than across it.

what is causing a brown stain under the glass shelf?

We've had the refrigerator about 8 months. We've not got brownish stains between the full glass shelf and the framework for the crisper drawers. It looks like the glue holding these together has discolored, but makes it appear something brown has spilled all around the framework of the shelf! Is there a remedy? The shelf and framework appear to be glued together.
Asked by: Veazey
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this refrigerator. According to our information, the glass in the crisper cover is a separate component. As such, it would seem that a spill may be sticking the glass to the Crisper Cover. This glass should be able to lift out by pressing up beneath it.

We had purchased a LG refrig LDC24370 about 6 months ago. We love the refrigerator except one thing. It has this noise that is heard most of the day.

My husband said it's the compressor for the ice maker. I've been reading reviews and most people don't say anything about a noise. In fact, some say the refrigerator is so quiet that you don't even know it's running. Well that is not the case for us. It's actually annoying when working in the kitchen and sitting at the table. Could this noise be the compressor? Could we get this noise taken care of? Sue
Asked by: BobSue
It is possible that the noise you're hearing coming from your LG Large Capacity Bottom Freezer Refrigerator with Ice Maker (Fits a 33" Opening), Model # LDC24370SW is the compressor. Noises from the refrigerator may be a part of normal operation or due to a malfunction in the unit's functions. If the noise lasts for more than 30 minutes, then stops when the doors are opened, indicates that the noise is coming from one of the fans. If the refrigerator cabinet and doors are not leveled properly, frost buildup can occur on the fan. If the noise does not stop when the refrigerator doors are opened and does not last for more than 30 minutes, then noises are just a normal part of the refrigerator's function. Buzzing, humming or drilling noises can come from the compressor. The compressor will change speeds according to the needs of the refrigerator in order to cool both the freezer and refrigerator sections. If the compressor goes into a higher sped than normal, noises that resemble buzzing, knocking or banging may be heard. If the noises last longer than an hour, have recently become louder or can be heard in another room then the refrigerator may require repair service...^IFV

Can the refrigerator door and the freezer drawer be removed?

LDC 24370. I have a 31" opening that the unit would have to fit through. With the doors removed the stated depth would be 29". Is this true and if true is the refrigerator door and freezer drawer difficult to remove? Tools required?
Asked by: KingOD
Hello KingOD. If the front opening is not wide enough to get the LG Large Capacity Bottom Freezer Refrigerator with Ice Maker (Fits a 33" Opening), Model # LDC24370ST, it is a common practice for installers to remove the doors so they get the refrigerator through the door opening on its side. If you intend to do it yourself, you may want to download a copy of the owner's manual and read pages 13-18 where there are explicit and detailed instructions on how to do this. The instructions also say what tools are needed. As for whether or not it is easy to remove the doors depends on your skill level and how adept you are at using tools. There are a lot of small parts to be removed and you will need someone to assist you...^IFV
