What People Are Saying

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every thing "is now Great" ! Purchased this Refer 7 months ago and it is by far the BEST refrigerator I have EVER owned. It is quiet ( can't even tell if it's running except it is always the temp I have it set at), has bright LEDs ( I can see everything in the frig) and the ice maker is fast and quiet. "Life is" really "Great" since I purchased this "baby".

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not great, but big and pretty Main board was out after 10 months, repair failed 8 hours later. Lots of food spoilage. We were responsible for defrosting the massive block of ice formed due to the defective board. A little water damage to the carpet that is close to the kitchen. Not super happy at all.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lemon 7 repairs in 4 years. 4 of the same problem. Can't get it fixed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from cheap junk This frig is cheap plastic junk. I can't tell you how many different plastic parts have cracked, broken and have been replaced. The ice maker is small and jams up with ice. The water and filters need to be replaced more often 4 months or so and the water and ice maker shuts off until you replace a 25 dollar part. So no ice or water. This should be the consumers decision. I'll never buy lg again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This Fridge Is A Nightmare!!! DO NOT BUY!!! Everything In My Home Is LG. I Was So Pleased With The Performance And Quality Of My LG 60 Inch TV, I Bought All LG When I Bought My New Home. However This Particular Fridge Was A Total Nightmare. List Of Issues Leading To Untimely Death: 1. The Fridge Would Freeze Up In The Bottom Freezer Compartment Behind The Wall, Causing The Fan To Make Horrible Noises. (Repair Guy From Sears Said They All Do This And It Is A Defect In Design) So Every 2-3 Weeks For Like 6 Months I Had To Take Apart My Fridge And Defrost It As Repairman From Sears Advised Us To Do. 2. Water In Door Was Never Cool Always Room Temp 3. Then Freezer Quit Freezing Food Solid, So We Quit Using The Freezer Portion And Just Used Fridge Portion For Our Fresh Food, Then My Wife Said The Food In The Fridge Was Getting Hot. I Placed A Thermometer In Fridge For A Couple Hours And Realized It Was 70 F Inside And Our Fresh Food Was Ruined. Repair Guy Said The Entire Coil Had Burned Up Along With The Heating Unit To Prevent The Fridge From Freezing This Experience REALLY REALLY REALLY Burned Us. My Wife Pretty Much Refused To Buy Any More LG Products. After A Long Hard Debate I Bought A New French Door LG Fridge Model LFXS29766S/01 So Far We Have Been Extremely Pleased With It's Dual Ice Makers And Thus Far 1 Week Out The Box Good  Performance. Long Story Short This Fridge Was Lemon And The Worst Appliance I Have Ever Owned In My 36 Years On This Planet! Truly & Sadly A Heartbreaking Experience For Me & My Family.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from ER IF error. Ice fan failure. It appears this is a common problem. My concern with repairing, is that it will fail again. I have had this fridge less than 2 years. I tried searching, but it does not appear that replacing the part will prevent the failure from occurring again due to ice buildup on the ice fan.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible! Do not buy this refrigerator! We purchased this refrigerator 4 years ago when we moved into our house. About 8 months after purchasing this product the ice maker started making a loud grinding noise. We had a technician come out to repair the issue. This worked for about 6-8 months, then the loud grinding noise started again and would eventually give an IF error. To get rid of this error we would have to unplug the refrigerator for several hours to allow it to defrost. Each time we did this the ice that would melt would leak behind the control panel. Now the bottom part of the control panel is so corroded from the leaking water that we can't even use the bottom buttons (lock and alarm). Just recently the ice maker has started sticking and often times will just start dispensing ice when no one is even around. Very disappointing to spend that much money on a product that doesn't even last a year.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from UUGGGHHH ICE MAKER The fridge is great, but the biggest complaint we have with it is the ice maker. The ice constantly gets jammed up or it melts and then re-freezes into a big clump so when you want ice, you have to constantly open up the door and shake and break up the ice so it can come up. Just a poor design.

When the doors are shut, a loud grinding noise happens when the unit is running. When a door is opened it stops. The temps are set to 34 for the fridge and 4 degrees for the freezer. What could cause this grinding noise?

Asked by: Diane Lynn
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this refrigerator. The description provided suggests that there may be some frost or ice accumulation around the freezer fan or some other form of obstruction. This fan is designed to be deactivated any time the doors are open, and will start re-circulating the air flow when the door closes.
