What People Are Saying

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 193 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love it The picture is so clear, the edge is so thin and all my friends said wows. I love the 3D feature too with blue-ray. I wish I had bought a bigger (say, 65") one though. August 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by I love this HDTV Went to buy another brand of hdtv... After seeing this one it beat all other hdtv's.... Had all the features that I needed. The picture was perfect.. August 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful Product This tv is one of my favorites I have ever owned. The built in calibration give me the best picture I have ever seen. The 4k clarity is amazing. A bonus with this tv is the Web OS features. Easy to use. This has to be one of the best smart TVS on the market. Flawless connectivity. One of my favorite features is the multiple USB ports. Plugged a 500gb hard drive for media streaming and works awesome. Thank you LG for a great product. August 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Experience We went shopping to replace our 46 inch TV with a new 55 inch Ultra HD version. We looked at all the name brand TV's and found the picture quality of the LG to be at least as good as the top 2 brands and and the features were superior than all, including 3D and magic remote. The best price was icing on the cake. Would highly recommend this TV. July 14, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by LG TV It is very easy to work with and very good pitcher June 30, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Picture; but lacking something I need. Have had this TV for about 3 months. Excellent picture on HD channels. However, would not have purchase had I known it did not have a simple "audio out" allowing me to connect a much needed hearing aid device in order to adjust volume I need versus anyone else that may be visiting me. Would highly recommend and rate it 5 star except for this one thing. June 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent This is my second LG TV but my first 4K TV ,,, nothing but LG TV's from now on best quality, best value but most important just best overall... i keep getting the most bang for my buck with LG, customer for life!!!! June 24, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by 55UB8500 I bought this to replace another 55" LG we had for several years but lost to lightning. The 55UB8500 4K TV has been outstanding. The HDMI inputs are intuitive and it has functioned well as a "command and control" in place on our AV receiver. June 21, 2015

Does this display support 3840x2160 / 60Hz? I would assume that since the HDMI ports are HDMI 2.0 that the tv can accept and display 3840x2160/60Hz, but this is not specified on the website.

Also, does this display support UHD-3D, or only 1080p-3D? Again, not specified on the website.

Thank you.

Answer:
Input) As stated before, you must use HDMI 3 for 4k60fps. Assuming your are using a graphics card on a pc, if the GPU is HDMI 1.4, Nvidia will downsample color to 4.2.2 and run 60fps at 4k. If GPU has HDMI 2.0, I suggest setting to RGB Full Dynamic Color in Nvidia control panel. I can't say the same for AMD.

3D) To run games in 3d at 4k60fps, you have to use built in 3d converted because 3dTV play doesn't support 4k; nor does TriDef 3d I believe. Use the top down setting when using 3d for the best 3d experience. Skyrim looks great using that method compared to side/by/side or checkerboard.

Maybe the TruMotion setting is enabled. Makes the video appear life like. You change the setting by going to settings> picture> picture adjust> picture options> TruMotion. You may turn it off from there or adjust motion clarity to your preference.

Few quick questions for everyone!

1. Is wifi built in? I've seen people say both yes and no.

2. If only one HDMI port is 2.0, does that mean you essentially must make sure you play your 4k content through that one hdmi port? Will the other ports still upscale?

3. If the other hdmi upscale as well, does this cause a reduction in FPS since only 2.0 supports 4k @ 60fps?

4. Will playing 4k through a tv app (netflix) be the same quality as one coming through a HDMI 2.0 device?

Answer:
4) Netflix 4k content looks the same coming from the tv or my pc's netflix (my gpu has hdmi 2.0). Netflix 4k content looks like 1080p to be honest. So stupidly large lightly compressed 4k videos streamed from the pc via hdmi 2.0 are vastly superior. I hope some day soon Sony figures out how to put uncompressed 4k movies (hopefully higher than 24fps) on dual layer blurays.

Netflix won't connect

I can't get Netflix to work. I am connected to my home network, I turned the firewall off completely. I can connect to netflix on my computer or Xbox 360 but not my brand new TV. It tests the network and gives me a check by internet but red checks by all the netflix servers. What can I do?

Answer:
You may have to conduct a system update on the TV itself in order for Netflix to work. To do this, go to the settings, then "general settings", and then "about my TV". There is a update button and once it is downloaded, you have to restart your TV. You may have to do this several times to update your TV completely. I recommend you turn on enable automatic updates so you don't ever miss an important update.

There should be no reason you need to disable your Firewall to us this TV with Netflix. You are only inviting security risks by doing so.

Answer:
It's "possible" that you may need to go on your computer and go into the security settings for your Netflix account. I had to do this with my Blu-Ray player and it generated a code I had to enter. I didn't have any issues with my TV setup, but I had already fixed this issue prior to buying the TV so, I'm not sure this will help. It's worth looking into however.
