Rated 1 out of 5 by from Light banding a serious problem, buggy tech I bought this TV because it had the best smart features by far. After 14 months, I wish I hadn't. Light banding, in my opinion, makes the TV unwatchable. And now the thing has locked up. Most disappointing TV purchase of my life. Do not buy an LG.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great TV at this price point. Coming from a top line LG plasma from a few year's ago, the wow factor wasn't what I was expecting, but compared to other modern LED/LCD tv's the overall picture is much better than almost all of those. Run the tv mostly on Vivid or Sports mode, as the Expert Dark and Expert Light Room pre-sets are still too dark. Used custom calibration for Expert Dark Room but it still cannot reach pic quality of the plasma. Netflix 4k/HDR content make this TV shine and will outpace the old plasma in this area, but there is still limited content currently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fourth LG TV This is the fourth LG I've bought. All of them have been great. This is the newest one and replaced my old 42 inch plasma. Couldn't be happier. Great picture.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value, some things to be desired The TV displays brilliantly with amazing detail when it has all the data. Some stations or even some streaming content seems to vary producing large enough differences in things like the picture overall brightness/darkness and sound. One channel you see fine in "standard" mode let's say but the next channel is impossibly dark. One channel you hear the sound fine and the other you don't. I understand these are largely the content and not the TV, however there are adaptive engines and tech built in to the TV which I've expected better performance from. To change the gamma setting on a dark movie channel so it is comfortable to watch isn't a flick of a button nor is it something you want to do on every channel. Biggest complaint is with the sound. The acoustics of the room are not great and every flat TV mounted on the wall has been terrible producing clear and distinct vocal sound. We've tried all the sound settings, I've auto tuned it, I've factory reset, I am not afraid to poke in all the deep menus. Nothing produced a consistent enough sound on the same channel, even the same movie or program where I wasn't constantly raising and lowering the volume. The only thing that worked was turning DOLBY off from the cable box. This eliminated so much of the background nonsense so we could hear, but then I feel like I'm getting half the experience. Recently put in a soundbar. It's a bit better but the magic remote won't control it even though it is an LG bar and woofer. That bugs me. I can't mute or change the volume if I am streaming with the magic remote. Lastly, I am concerned about web 3.0 vs 3.5 and the LG's commitment to pushing newer, better, more functional software to machines that less than a year old.

Will this model need/get a firmware update to fix the elevated black issue with Dolby Vision transmitted over HDMI? Also, is HDR10+ a possibilty via firmware upgrade?

The LG SUPER UHD 4K HDR Smart LED TV - 65" Class (64.5" Diag), Model # 65UH7700 supports HDR10 and Plus Dolby Vision™ and will receive a firmware update that adds support for HLG HDR.
