What People Are Saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst TV Ever I recently purchased an open box 65 OLED TV and noticed vertical lines in the screen during light grey and white images. I contacted LG and they said they would cover it and asked me to connect through their telepresence app. They took photos, a manager approved that an LG authorized dealer would come to check the TV, after all the work they say the TV is too old and it hasn't been even 2 years since the release. LG can care less about their customers. They build an expensive TV and they do not provide any support to its WebOs software, why if a TV is not even a year old, it should not receive updates to its operating system? I purchased another OLED TV and I am returning that one too before I'm stuck with another bad TV and no support from LG. I will share my experience in every site I find an OLED and make sure no one experiences the same issue.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Please offer without the soundbar I would buy this tv today if it came without a useless sound bar/control box. First, I don't need the sound bar and, second, as a control box it is way to wide to fit my equipment rack under the tv. Please offer a better design with a small control box that does not include a sound system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great TV with a Few Quirks The picture and sound are absolutely fantastic, but it does require a little finagling to get your AV system to be able to use the soundbar. Basically, you have to disable your volume control from your AV receiver and allow the soundbar to control volume. You might be able to connect at Optical Audio from the AV receiver to the Soundbar if they are in close proximity but if you have them in separate rooms, it becomes a problem with length of the Optical Audio.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent TV This TV could easily be the best TV I've ever owned if it wasn't for one thing. The way the sound bar, with all the inputs/components, hooks to the TV should have multiple options for people who purchase this TV. I guarantee that at least 90% of the owners of this TV already have their own sound system, which makes the sound bar unusable. If LG offered a small box with the necessary components to operate this TV or at least sold longer extension cables so the sound bar could be hidden from sight would be the best way to improve this set. Plus, the cable is not very flexible, giving you not many options to run the ribbon cable, and any other cable, behind the TV, but the TV sits so flush on the wall, some of these ideas aren't even options. I've been looking to buy an additional ribbon cable to extend the sound bar far enough where it's out of sight, but I can't find anyone who sells this cable by itself.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Idea, Room for Improvement I absolutely love the idea of an ultra thin display while putting all of the components in a separate wired enclosure (in this case the soundbar). Some have complained about the ribbon cable but as long as the picture is crisp, I don't care what kind of cable they used. However, the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because there should be an option to use a smaller component enclosure instead of the soundbar. A TV this size and impressive should have its own premier stand alone audio system. I imagine most owners wouldn't use the included soundbar so a smaller enclosure that is easily hidden would be much more favorable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing picture!!! Absolutely an amazing picture but can we please have more than one optical out? There are people in the world that run two audio systems off of the tv feed! Please please please.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great picture with disappointing audio We are remodeling and decided to get the 65 inch "wallpaper" TV to open up space in our small living room. From this standpoint it has worked out well. Like others have said, for those with a good AV sound system it would be nice to provide a small AV box that could be hidden. Since I knew there was no such option, I won't deduct any stars for this. But I will deduct 2 stars for not having a way to add a subwoofer to the included sound bar (aka AV bar). As best I can tell, I HAVE to use an external sound system (AV receiver) to use a subwoofer (in which case no sound can come from the sound bar--what a waste). Since this seems to be the case, it would have been nice to at least let the sound bar act as the center speaker for a home theater system. That way, the sound bar would be useful as more than a connection box. But this can't be done either. Unless I am wrong, this is a poor design. (It would even be nice if a wireless subwoofer could be used a la the inexpensive 2.1 LG sound bar.)

Why not make a version of this TV with a box instead of sound bar? And make an accessories option that you can just attach the speaker. If I want to replace my TV now it's very hard for me to do it, because the speaker won't fit inside my cabinet.????

Does it use checkerboard upscaling or interpolation upscaling

Asked by: Chisum
Checkerboard Rendering (CBR) is not upscaling and is often mixed up with upscaling. The difference is that "Upscaling attempts to utilize higher resolution displays without higher resolution content... Upscaling uses known pixel values to estimate unknown intermediate pixels. The process works by mathematically guessing or “interpolating” values based on a weighted average of known pixels in the vicinity". The keyword here being 'interpolating'. Checkerboard on the other hand " provides 50% newly rendered pixels each frame plus a 50% mixture of previously-rendered-and-reprojected pixels along with some portion of scaled pixels to determine the final frame." To construct a completed frame using CBR, there must be two sequential "checkerboard" frames entering the rendering pipeline. All frames are full resolution and there is no interpolating performed during the merging phases of CBR. The main difference between checkerboard and upscaling is interpolation! In Upscaling, considering using a lower resolution frame i.e. 2560x1440 frame to construct a 3840x2160 frame. Since the pixel contents only counts about 1/2 of the final frame, all the remaining 1/2 pixel contents have to "guess" or "interpolated" into the final frame. That's why usually the upscaled image looks really bad, 'cause 1/2 contents are just by 'guessing"! Their 1/2 contents aren't there in the first place, they are made up by "interpolation". With Checkerboard Rendering, while both frames entered the rendering pipeline contains only half the pixel content of the full resolution, ideally there are nearly none missing contents that not like in upscaling, no "guessing" or "interpolation" needed for CBR. In the perfect scenario, the scene is static, the frames are exactly the same, CBR processed results is in fact identical to a native resolution content! ...^IFV

Do these tv's need to be calibrated

Asked by: Kevi58
Calibrating the LG SIGNATURE OLED TV W - 4K HDR Smart TV - 65" Class (64.5" Diag), Model # OLED65W7P should be the first step you take to improve the picture quality because an incorrectly calibrated TV will have a poor picture quality, resulting in a sub-par viewing experience. The best option is to get it calibrated professionally. The TV comes with factory settings that are are not the ones you want permanently as they are designed for the in-store setting with lots of bright, ambient light. However, you should reset to the factory settings so that you can use it as a foundation when calibrating the display for your own environment. You can do a rudimentary calibration by going into the TV's settings if you are prepared to spend time making the necessary adjustments but the best results are to have it professionally calibrated...^IFV
