What People Are Saying

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Washer/Dryer Combo Unit I bought the combo unit to give us more room in the laundry room for a shower. The unit works fine, just takes 3-4 hrs to complete a load wash & dry. Unit uses less power and less water which is great and reduces the operating cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from All in one (washer/dryer) works well. I was worried about the drying of my clothes. I was told by family that because of the bad drying I should not buy this machine. She was wrong. The dryer works better than any dryer I ever used, even in the laundromat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best decision i ever made before i bought this washer i made sure i read all the reviews and i liked what i saw when i finally went to purchase it i had to explain to the sales person how this washer and dryer combo worked because he wanted to sell me a hose with it delivery was easy just plug it in and hook it up on the water so awesome i used it the same day and omg its was very easy make sure you read the instruction first just to get some understanding but if you like me im a hands on kind a girl and it was nothing to it super quiet and no switching over to the dryer if you need to take something out just hit the pause button take it out and hit play :o) on the bottom is a small drain hose that you need to empty every couple days i do it after every wash and i found out if you empty the water first and then unscrew the filter next to it you dont have water every where overall if you looking for quality this is it you spent just as much for two machines ( washer and dryer)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love my combo. I don’t think I’ve ever researched an appliance purchase more than this one. It seemed like people gave it 5 stars or 1. I decided to buy it because I’ve had good experiences with LG products and figured they probably didn’t create a machine that worked as poorly as the 1 star people would lead you to believe. I was right. This machine is wonderful. Does it take longer to dry? For some stuff (like big blankets) “yes.” But apparently that does not mean more energy expense, and without a vent, you can leave your house without fear it will catch on fire! (Happened to two people I know). It does get clothes clean, it does dry them, it does not leave then wrinkled. I couldn’t be happier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Even beyond my expectations! It is even more convenient than I expected to put clothes in at night and find them clean and dry in the morning! I could never go back! Suggestions: the timer should be “time when finished “ rather than “hours until start”. 2. The tumble after finished mode should have its own selection button 3. LG should burn these in at the factory to reduce the burned plastic smell everyone complains about 4. Light should have a button so I can check what’s going on

Rated 1 out of 5 by from JUNK ! I purchased the washer dryer combo back in 2014 when I built a new house. great idea if it worked for more than 6 months at a time its amazing. its basically the same issue all the time....water POURS into the machine regardless if its running or not. the bathroom has flooded twice. If you are luck enough for the water not to come out of the door when you open it half of the clothes are sitting in water. Home Depot keeps sending service techs to the house and keeps insisting they understand .....they don't understand nor does it appear that they care. I would not only not recommend this as a purchase I would also not recommend Home Depot for any support

Rated 5 out of 5 by from no need to bend back my wife is very happy with the set, no need to bend back to do laundry. looks strong and pretty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing machine! I absolutely love my LG washer/dryer combo. The machine works great. It does take longer to dry clothes than a vented machine, but the convenience of having a combo unit makes up for the longer dry time. The machine drys my clothes completely every time and the washing cycle does a fantastic job and cleaning.

Where is the lint trap in the combo washer dryer?

Asked by: Chkiii
The Washer/Dryer Combo units do not have a lint trap as the lint flushes out through the drain line since it uses a condensing system and not a heating element. ^AC

How do I get dryer setting to high it's taking forever to dry one load

Asked by: Calles1994
Hello, the unit washes and then dries the clothing in the same drum. Since the unit is a Ventless Condensing system, it does not heat your clothing like a normal dryer. Because of this, it takes longer and is more efficient, also it can take longer depending on how full the drum is. ^AC

Can you use pods? A friend recommended fabric softner sister told me she uses all in one pod (detergent, bleach,& fabric softner)

Asked by: CAT1923
Yes you can, but if using pods, do not exceed 1 pod per load. Place the pod directly in the drum. Pods may contain too much detergent for small loads. So you may still need to use regular detergent in some cases. ^AC

Can I use Tide pod type detergent in this machine? Does it go in dispenser or straight in machine?

Asked by: Cmerrit123
The LG 4.3 cu. ft. Ultra Large Capacity Front Load Washer / Dryer Combo, Model # WM3997HWA is specially designed to use only HE (High-Efficiency) detergent so check to make sure that the Tide Pods that you intend to use are HE detergent. The HE logo will be on their packaging. You would have to add the pods directly into the tub before loading your laundry. It is recommended that you follow the manufacturer's instructions printed on ther packaging. Do not place them in the detergent dispenser...^IFV

Can you use dryer sheets?

Asked by: CAT1923
You can use dryer sheets in the LG Front Load Washer / Dryer Combo, Model # WM3997HWA. It may be worth noting that for the automatic drying function, electronic sensors measure the temperature of the exhaust to increase or decrease the drying temperature for a faster reaction time and tighter temperature control. On these Automatic Dry Settings, the estimated drying time may vary from the actual drying time. The type of fabric, size of the load and the selected dryness level all affect the drying time. There is a lot of debate about how the use of dryer sheets can affect the electronic sensors. Dryer sheets shred tiny bits of their fabric which can sometimes coat the sensors, causing the dryer to run longer and work harder, which in the long run, can shorten the life of the dryer. This can be avoided with regular maintenance. You can clean the dryer tub to keep it clean...^IFV

What is the required drain size for this machine. I generally use a 2 inch drain. Is it possible to use an 1 1/2” drain

Asked by: Jpacheco
Hi Jpacheco. In the U.S. under the IPC(International Plumbing Code), the trap and standpipe must be 2". You cannot transition to a 1 1/2" pipe as that would cause a restriction point, especially for water discharging under pressure, which is a code violation. Local codes may vary and further restrict national model codes, so you will need to check your building codes. Your drain for the LG 4.3 cu. ft. All-in-One Washer and Electric Ventless Dryer in White, Model # WM3997HWA must be installed in accordance with any applicable local codes and regulations...^IFV

We just received out new LG Washer/Dryer Combo WM3997H*A today.  We have run 2 regular size loads and they both took 5+ hours on the display and actually took that long for the cycle to run.  This sounds way to long.  What is the fix?

Asked by: Rob B2018
Hello, that sounds like it is working normal. The unit washes and then dries the clothing in the same drum. Since the unit is a Ventless Condensing system, it does not heat your clothing like a normal dryer. Because of this, it takes longer and is more efficient, also it can take longer depending on how full the drum is. ^AC
