Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's 98% perfect I bought this vent-less washer/dryer combo on the 8th of August and they said it would be 3 weeks to delivery. The day they were supposed to call me to tell me what time that they would be out, I got a call telling me that it'd be another month! My house (tiny house RV) was torn up to get it in and I had to put it back together only to tear it apart again the other day. I had read EVERY review here and took everything to heart. When they came to put in the hook up, I made sure that it was low enough that I could take the drain hose and slid the whole thing into the drain. Not only did that help with the excess water in the dryer thing, but I put the washer where my stove/oven used to be (I had a war with the gas company when I moved in so I got rid of the range and got an induction cook top. It's perfect.) and so I have the overhead vent to pull out any heat/moisture ()I forgot to turn it on yesterday and had turned off the AC as it was too cold in here. It hardly put out any heat at all. I've done something like 8 loads in the last 2 days (I was out of everything ;~D). A lot of the loads were smaller as a lot of the clothes were new so I had to wash like colors due to color bleed for the initial wash. The first 2 loads were warm damp and basically dried in my hand before I could hang them over the dowel rod stand I have. After that, I found out that if I keep an eye on the dry cycle, that once there was no more moisture on the glass (plastic) that everything was dry. Not only that I saved a half hour on drying time (on the small loads and an hour on the large ones). That, and the clothes were so HOT when I opened the dryer that I have to let them set a few minutes to keep from burning fingers. So yes to anyone having issues with the clothes NOT drying, drop the drain down below where it comes out of the machine and you shouldn't have any more issues. Outside of the occasional belt/bearing rattling or the heavy shaking when it first starts to spin, I've had no problems and I absolutely LOVE this machine. I use Melaleuca laundry soap that uses something like a coffee scoop size per load so I got a couple of the bottles that you'd put like ketchup, mustard, BBQ sauce, etc. into and just give it a squirt. I don't need the huge bottles around so it saves me a lot of space there too. If you are looking to buy one of these, I'd say that you can't go wrong. Just be ready to wait for them as I think LG waits for a certain number of orders before they produce them. Just my 2 cents worth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great performance Bought this combo three months ago and am very happy with the performance. I live in a mobile with limited room and the combo was the perfect fit. It does a great job of both cleaning and drying; you just have to follow the guidelines in the instructions. I have recommended this to several of my friends and believe at least one ordered one for their home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great unit I bought the 4.3 cu ft unit after my son purchased the 2.3 cu ft machine and he raved about his machine. Love the sanitize cycle for doing new puppy ground-breaking laundry, cycle takes longer, so I usually run it overnight and the towels & fleece throws come out great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfectly dries!!! I bought this product after a lot of research on internet. It is a machine that has enough space to wash and dry our family laundry. I wash queen size bedsheets, jeans, towels, light weight cotton or silk shirts and blouses. Everything comes out clean and dry. There are no more visits to laundry and waiting for a free day to get the clothes washed. People have written complaints about wet or damp clothes after the end of wash cycle. I have not yet faced any such problem and I am satisfied with its drying function too. Even I think that clothes seem to be dry before the dry cycle time ends. I clean the lint after every wash and the drain filter after 4 weeks. The machine is very quiet. There is no mess or smell in the tub after wash. It is easy to use and very sturdy machine. The only thing I would like to be better is the price because its a very commonly used portable machine and mostly it will be a dream to buy for people in condos, apartments and small places who are not so welloff. I hope LG will reconsider the price.Thank you LG!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchase I have EVER MADE. I bought this in May. It has flooded my basement, leaked, and had several other issues with not drying, filling with water, and clogging. it is unbelievable that such an expensive product comes with so many issues. I thought I was buying quality with LG but this is junk - and dangerous, given the damage it has already done to my house and pocketbook.I deeply regret this purchase. Don;t waste your money.

Is this a smart - capable unit? Does it have an NFC chip? How do I use the smart diagnosis?

Asked by: TechfanaticLLC
The LG Front Load Washer / Dryer Combo, Model # WM3997HWA does not have the NFC Tag On feature. The Smart Diagnosis™ is used when you experience technical difficulty with your washing machine, which has the capability of transmitting diagnostic data to your smartphone via a free app or directly to the Customer Information Center for quick and efficient troubleshooting. If you download the app to your phone, when you experience difficulty with the phone, while the washing machine is turned on, just hold the mouth piece of your smartphone next to the Smart Diagnosis™ logo on the Washer. With the phone held in place, press and hold the Wash Temp button for three seconds. Keep the phone in place until the tone transmission has finished. This takes about 6 seconds and the display will count down the time. When the recording is complete, view the diagnosis by pressing the Next button on the phone. You can also call the LG call center at: (LG U.S.) 1-800-243-0000. When instructed to do so by the call center agent, hold the mouthpiece of your phone over the Smart Diagnosis™ logo on the machine. Hold the phone no more than one inch (but not touching) the machine. Press and hold hold the Wash Temp button for three seconds. Keep the phone in place until the tone transmission has finished. Again, this takes about 6 seconds and the display will count down the time. Once the countdown is over and the tones have stopped, resume your conversation with the call center agent, who will then be able to assist you in using the information transmitted for analysis...^IFV

When I do a load of laundry and the cycle is complete, I open the door and the clothes on top are dry but then as I take the rest of the clothes out they are soaking wet and there is water in the unit still. What is the problem?

Asked by: Emilylgraham
The capacity of the machine for washing clothes is twice as much as when drying clothes. If the machine is to be used to dry a load, then the wash load must be reduced by half for effective drying performance. If a full load is washed, remove half the clothes prior to starting the dry cycle. This information is found on page 26 of the owner’s manual.

How can I clean the lint which is in the front left at down

Asked by: Karmad
The washing machine fails to drain if the drain pump filter is clogged. Periodically clean the drain filter to prevent clogging with foreign objects. Press the Power button to turn off the washing machine and pull out the plug. Open the drain pump filter cover. Unclip the drain hose and remove the plug from the drain hose to drain the remaining water. Twist the pump filter counterclockwise to remove it. Clean the pump filter and opening. Recap the plug onto the drain hose and reattach the drain hose. Insert the drain pump filter. Close the drain pump filter cover.

The vent on the back produces a bunch of moisture and humidity. Recommend clearance is 4". But gets moisture all over the walls. How can this be prevented. Needs some sort of an elbow pointing up so it doesn't get direct heat to the walls

Asked by: Mjohnson88
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. If the clearance provided does not allow sufficient air flow in your laundry area, then it may be considered to allow more for improved circulation.

Whenever I set my clothes to dry when it's finished it still comes out moist

Asked by: Domocampos
The LG Front Load Washer / Dryer Combo, Model # WM3997 does not dry the same way standalone standard dryers do. The washer will automatically run a spin cycle before the DRY cycle begins to attempt to extyract as much water as possible from the clothing before it begins to dry. That may add an additional 14 minutes to the cycle any time the dry setting is chosen. Water is needed in order for the combo to perform the dry function. The cold water is used to condense the moisture in the air. If water is not supplied to the unit, the clothes will not be dried. Make sure your taps are fully opened. You also have to keep in mind that the capacity for drying in this unit is smaller for this unit than it's washing capacity. If you are washing a full sized load, the drying capacity will be half of that and if you place too much clothing in one load when washing, you will need to reduce the load size for drying otherwise the clothes will not dry or take forever to dry. If your clothes are coming out warm but still wet, that signals that the unit is heating but not drying your clothes effectively. Clean the drain pump filter at the bottom left of the unit...^IFV

Where is the lint trap???  After every single load I have to clean the front because of all The build up. It's actually making me want to return it. Such a hassle

Asked by: Mholla
We regret the trouble you have experienced with this washing machine. The only filter appears to be the DRAIN PUMP FILTER, located behind the cover on the bottom left corner of the cabinet. For additional information, please contact our Customer Interactive Center at 800-243-0000.
