[LG OLED TV] How to check the standard remote control

Troubleshooting

For a standard remote control, it may not work in any of the following cases.

  • Remote control batteries are discharged
  • A part that sends a remote control signal is defective
  • Abnormality in the remote control buttons (if only some buttons cannot be pressed)
  • If the remote control signal is not transmitted to the product due to radio wave interference caused by strong surrounding light
(three-wavelength fluorescent lamps and some lamps using electronic ballasts)

Try this

If the remote control batteries are discharged

1. Check if the LED on the front of the standard remote control turns on when any button is pressed.
If not, replace both of the 2 remote control batteries.

2. Open the rear cover, replace the batteries with new ones and check if the TV operates.

If a remote control button or a part that sends a signal is defective

1. With the camera shooting function of your Android cell phone activated, point the camera lens at the top of the remote control.

2. While watching the LCD on your cell phone, press a button that does not work on the remote control repeatedly.

  • If only certain buttons do not light, the remote control may be defective.
  • If all buttons do not light, replace the batteries first.

Frequency interference by three-wavelength fluorescent lamps or lamps using electronic ballasts, etc.

1. After turning off the three-wavelength fluorescent lamp, press a button on the remote control to check if it works.

TV remote controls (standard) of LG Electronics are generally compatible with each other, so if you have a different remote control, you can check if the first remote control is operating using the second control instead.
※ AI (magic) remote controls may not be compatible with each other.
Check them separately from standard remote controls.

Note
Removing and storing batteries when you do not use the remote control for a long period of time can prevent the batteries from discharging and causing a remote control failure.
➔ If the remote control is not used for a long period of time with the batteries inserted, battery fluid may leak and cause a remote control failure.
Batteries in the remote control are bad
Check for remote control failures and TV failures separately.
➔ Check if the standby indicator on the TV turns on. If not, it is likely to be a TV problem.
Press the Power button on the TV to see if the power is turned on. The location of the power standby indicator may differ by model.

Check it separately from the remote control for the set-top box.
➔ Some set-top box remote controls have different communication methods, so there are also cases in which you cannot confirm abnormality using the camera function method with your mobile phone or the lamp on the remote control.
