If Your LG Refrigerator Is Not Making Ice or Not Making Enough

Wait 12 hours to two days for your refrigerator to make the first batch of ice.
When you first connect it to power, it cools the compartments and stored food before making ice. Allow two to three days for the ice bin to fill completely.

Press and hold the Lock button for three seconds to unlock the control panel if it is locked.
Press the Ice On/Off, In-Door Ice, Cubed Ice, or Craft Ice button to turn on the ice maker. On some models, you need to press and hold the button for three seconds.

Lower the freezer temperature by 1 to 2 degrees and monitor ice production for 24 hours. Water takes longer to freeze if the temperature is too high.

Move any food that prevents the door from closing completely. Wipe away any residue on the door gasket so cold air cannot escape through a gap.

If your refrigerator has the Express Freeze or Ice Plus feature, press the button on the control panel to temporarily increase cold air and make ice faster.
Make sure your freezer is set to a sufficiently low temperature before using this feature.

Make sure the water tank contains enough water if your refrigerator has one inside the compartment.
Make sure the water supply valve under the sink or behind the refrigerator is fully open if your refrigerator is connected to a water line.
Check that the water supply hose is not kinked or compressed.

Replace the water filter if you have used it for six months or longer. An old or clogged filter reduces water flow, resulting in smaller or fewer ice cubes.
Dispense enough water after replacing the filter to remove trapped air from the water line.

Carefully remove the ice bin and gently shake it to separate the ice. Ice can clump together if left in the bin for a long time, preventing new ice from dispensing.
Discard any large clumps that do not separate.
Clean the ice bin, allow it to dry completely, and reinstall it.

If your refrigerator has Craft Ice, install the ice bin in the correct position to collect the round ice.
Install the bin with the handle facing forward and make sure it fits correctly into the grooves below the upper drawer.
Do not store anything other than ice in the ice bin.

Press and hold the test button or recessed test switch on the lower-left side or front of the ice maker for 3 seconds to resolve temporary system issues.
If you cannot find the test button, unplug the refrigerator or turn off the power at the circuit breaker. Wait at least 3 minutes, and then restore power to restart the system.
