You turned on the power and pressed the [Cooling] button, but there is no cold wind? Cold wind comes out but that is not just cold enough?
Causes and Symptoms
- Temperature is high in the place where the outdoor unit is installed.
- You selected the function with weak cooling.
- The wind suction pipe at the rear of the stand type air conditioner is blocked by curtains.
- There is dust in the ultra fine filter.
Air conditioner sucks in air from the surrounding and cools it and discharges it far away.
But if the process does not smoothly progress, then the cooling performance can be degraded.
Check for air ventilation in the location where the outdoor unit is installed and check if there is any
object obstructing views to the rear of the stand.
Simply by changing the selection of function for the air conditioner, you can more quickly reduce the indoor
temperature.
Try this
Has it been less than 2 years since you installed the product?
➔ If you cannot feel coldness even after long hours of operation, then it might be due
to the leakage of coolant.
After checking the installation information attached to the side of the product, contact your installation
technician.
Is the vent window for the outdoor unit room closed?
➔ Remove objects near the outdoor unit or open the air vent windows.
If the temperature of the outdoor unit is high, hot air might come into the air conditioner.
To make surer hot wind from the outdoor unit can escape from the building, remove obstacles in the
front/side/surrounding of the outdoor unit.
In addition, if the window or air ventilation window of the outdoor unit room is closed, then open it and
adjust the the louver of the air vent window to levelness as much as possible.
Did the outdoor unit get hot due to long hours of exposure to the direct sunlight?
➔ Install a sunlight curtain at the top of the outdoor unit to make sure that the external heat is not transfered to the inside.
If the outdoor temperature is high due to hot weather, then the internal temperature of the indoor unit can
rise.
If the outdoor temperature is below 18℃ (66.4℉) or higher than 48℃ (118.4℉), the air conditioner may not
provide a normal cooling function.
When the temperature of the outdoor unit is high due to exposures to the direct sunlight in hot summer, even
if you run the air conditioner for a long time, it may not generate cold wind.
If the location of outdoor unit installation is exposed to lots of sunlights, then install a sunlight
curtain to get benefits.
When you install a sunlight curtain, make sure to fix it well so that it does not shake due to the wind, and do not block the rear or side of the product.
Do you use the [Air Purification Standalone] or [Power Saving] [Dehumidification] function?
➔ After pressing the [Cooling] button, set the target temperature to
18℃ (66.4℉).
You can reduce the indoor temperature most quickly.
The [Air Purification Standalone] or [Power Saving] functions lead to use of less energy but also allows the
outdoor unit to not turn or turn slowly, thus, cooling might feel little weak.
In addition, by selecting [Dehumidification], you can enable auto setting of the temperature applied to the
[Dehumidification] function.
Therefore, the level of coldness can be weaker than when you select [Cooling] and set the target temperature
to low on your own.
In this case, press the [Cooling] button on the remote controller and set the target temperature to
18℃ (66.4℉) and operate it for more than 30 minutes.
Does the stand display display the (Leaf Sign)?
➔ This is ECO monitoring status where less energy is used.
After pressing the [Cooling] button, set the target temperature to 18℃ (66.4℉).
You can reduce the indoor temperature most quickly.
In case that the indoor temperature reaches the target temperature set by a customer or if the [Air
Purification Standalone] function is selected, then the outdoor unit will stop running but start using less
power, so the (Leaf
Sign) can appear.
In case that you want stronger cooling, press the [Cooling] button on the remote controller and set the
target temperature to 18℃ (66.4℉) and operate it for more than 30 minutes.
ECO monitoring is canceled and the display window no longer displays the (Leaf
Sign).
Is the rear of the stand blocked by curtains?
➔ Remove curtains that block the wind suction pipe at the rear of the stand.
In case of stand type product, as it is mainly installed on the wall, very often, its rear side is blocked
by curtains.
As shown here, if the curtain blocks the suction pipe of the rear, it cannot suck in winds sufficiently and
the fan speed will be reduced and noises will be generated.
As shown in the following figure, make sure that the curtain does not come in direct contact with the rear
of the product.
Has it been more than a month since the last cleaning?
➔ Clean the ultra fine filter.
If there are dusts in the filter, it cannot suck in or discharge the air properly, thus degrading the
cooling performance.
In addition, due to loud noises or excessive operation of the air conditioner, more electricity will be
used.
If it’s been more than a month since you cleaned the ultra-fine filter, turn off the air conditioner and
clean the filter.
Depending on the product, the location and removal method of the ultra fine filer may vary.
By referring to the user manual, separate the ultra fine filter and use a vacuum cleaner to suck in dusts or
use a soft brush to wipe off dusts.
Apart from ultra fine filters, there are many more types of filters for air conditioners.
Only ultra fine filters can be washed with water, some functional filters as well as ultra fine filters
and dust collection integrated filters cannot be washed with water, so if polluted, you must replace it
with a new one.
Before cleaning it, check the user manual regarding how to manage filters.
