[LG Air Conditioner] How to Resolve Error Code CH 61

Error code CH61 may be displayed to protect your air conditioner when the outdoor unit’s heat exchanger overheats.

Causes and Symptoms

[Air Conditioning]

  • The outdoor unit is installed on an enclosed balcony and the windows are closed.
  • Objects surrounding the outdoor unit is blocking proper ventilation.
  • CH61 error keeps appearing on the display.
  • It is hot around the outdoor unit.

[Heating]

  • The indoor unit filter is clogged with dust.

[Air Conditioning]

The CH 61 error may occur if the outdoor unit becomes very hot during air conditioning operation.
Poor ventilation and high surrounding temperatures can cause the outdoor unit’s temperature to rise.
The purpose of the CH61 error is to prevent fire hazards and product malfunction.

[Heating]

On heating and air conditioning units, the CH61 error is displayed when the internal temperature of the indoor unit becomes too high during heating operation.
This occurs when the air intake of the unit becomes blocked – most often due to a clogged filter.
