How to Troubleshoot Error Codes CH05, 53, E0, CH32, 33, 36, 38, F4, CH66, 90, 91, 92, and 93 on Your LG Air Conditioner

Troubleshooting

If your air conditioner displays an error code, it indicates a specific issue with your unit.
Codes CH05, CH53, or E0 indicate a communication problem between the indoor and outdoor units, while CH32, CH33, CH36, CH38, or F4 point to low refrigerant levels.
If you see CH66, CH90, CH91, CH92, or CH93, it means there is incorrect wiring, an incomplete test run, or restricted refrigerant flow during the test run.
To resolve the issue, contact your installer if the error appears shortly after installation. If the error occurs during normal use, try resetting your air conditioner.
If the error code persists after resetting, contact LG Customer Support for further assistance.

Warning

  • Do not disassemble the air conditioner or replace internal parts yourself. Doing so may cause fire, electric shock, serious injury, or death.
  • If the error code persists, stop using the air conditioner and contact LG Support.

Why Does the Error Code Appear?

Your air conditioner displays an error code when its self-diagnostic system detects an internal issue. To prevent damage, your air conditioner will stop operating if a component malfunctions.
If you see code CH05, CH53, or E0, it indicates a communication problem between the indoor and outdoor units. This can be caused by a temporary communication or power error, faulty wiring, a loose connector, or an issue with the main circuit board.
Codes CH32, CH33, CH36, CH38, or F4 point to a refrigerant or compressor-related problem, which may result from a temporary power issue, or a malfunction in the outdoor unit's compressor, drive, protection circuit, or internal electronic components.
Lastly, codes CH66, CH90, CH91, CH92, or CH93 indicate an installation or test run problem, such as incorrect wiring, an incomplete test run after installation, or restricted refrigerant flow during the test run.

How to Troubleshoot the Error Code

Step 1. Contact Your Installer If the Error Appears After Installation

If the error code appears shortly after installation, contact your installer directly. This often indicates a loose connection or a refrigerant leak that occurred during the installation process.

Step 2. Reset Your Air Conditioner

Unplug your air conditioner from the power outlet.
Turn off the power at the circuit breaker if you cannot access the power plug.
Wait for about five minutes to allow the system to fully reset.
Plug the unit back in or restore power at the circuit breaker.
Check if the error code has cleared.

Step 3. Still Need Help?

If the issue persists after following the steps above, you can get further support through LG Chatbot on our website or by requesting a technician visit.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. The Error Code Disappeared After I Reset the Air Conditioner. Can I Continue Using It?
A. This usually happens due to a temporary power or communication issue. You can continue using your air conditioner if it operates normally. If the error code persists, contact LG Support for service. A repeated error may indicate an internal circuit or wiring problem.
Q. What Should I Do if a CH237 or CH247 Error Code Appears?
A. The error code, CH237 and CH247, indicate a communication error caused by a lack of power to the outdoor unit. To resolve this issue, Check that the outdoor unit's power cord is securely plugged into the electrical outlet. If the power cord is secure but the error persists, contact LG Customer Support for service.
