If Your LG Dishwasher Feels Hot During Operation

The outside of your dishwasher and the surrounding countertop may feel warm or hot during operation.
This occurs because the unit uses high-temperature water during heated rinse and sanitizing cycles. This is normal, and you can continue to use your dishwasher.

The appliance and surrounding area may become hot due to high internal temperatures during operation

Why Does the Dishwasher Feel Hot?

  • The dishwasher uses high-temperature water during a heated rinse or sanitizing cycle.
  • Heat from inside the dishwasher may transfer to the cabinet and surrounding countertop during operation.

How to Resolve the Issue

A Warm Dishwasher Is Normal and Does Not Require Service

If you are concerned about the heat, contact LG Customer Support or request a service visit for an inspection.

Q. Is There a Fire Risk If the Countertop Around the Dishwasher Gets Hot?
A. There is no fire risk. It is normal for the surrounding countertop to reach up to 50°C (122°F) due to heat transferring from inside the dishwasher, which can reach 80°C (176°F).
This heat transfer is safe and a normal part of operation.
