How to Fix the 'No Signal' Message on Your LG Monitor

Troubleshooting

If your LG monitor displays a 'No Signal' message, it is usually due to incorrect input settings, a loose cable, or an unresponsive PC. First, use the monitor's buttons to ensure the correct input (such as HDMI or DisplayPort) is selected. Next, unplug the video cable connecting your monitor and PC, and then securely plug it back in. If the issue persists, press the Num Lock key on your keyboard to see if the PC is responding.

Why Does 'No Signal' Appear on the Monitor?

  • Incorrect input settings
  • Loose, damaged, or incompatible cable
  • Unresponsive PC

How to Fix the 'No Signal' Message on Your LG Monitor

Step 1. Select the Correct Input

Button on the lower front of the monitor
  • Depending on your model, the monitor's control button or joystick is located on the bottom, back, or front of the screen.
  • Press the button or joystick on the monitor to open the main menu.
  • Select Input.
  • Choose the exact port your PC is connected to, such as HDMI 1 or DisplayPort.

Step 2. Reconnect or Replace the Signal Cable

  • Completely unplug the video cable from both the monitor and the PC.
  • Check the cable connectors for any bent pins or debris.
  • If the connectors look fine, plug the cable back in securely to both devices.
  • We strongly recommend using the original cable included with your monitor.
  • If the issue persists, try using a different compatible cable to see if the original cable is faulty.

Step 3. Connect the Cable to the Correct PC Port

Location of the motherboard and graphics card ports on the back of the PC
  • If your PC has a dedicated graphics card, connect the monitor cable directly to it instead of the motherboard.
  • Only connect to the motherboard if your PC does not have a dedicated graphics card.
  • If the monitor only works when connected to the motherboard, there may be an issue with your graphics card or its driver.
  • Open Device Manager in Windows, go to Display adapters, and update the display driver if needed.

Step 4. Check If the PC Is Responding

  • Press the Num Lock key on your keyboard several times and see if the indicator light turns on and off.
  • If the light doesn't respond, your PC is likely frozen.
  • Press and hold the power button on your PC to force it to shut down, and then turn it back on.
  • Forcing your PC to shut down may result in the loss of unsaved work.

Step 5. Still need help?

If the issue persists, try swapping the cables or ports to see if the problem is with the monitor or the connection.
Q. Why Is There No Sound After Changing the Input to HDMI?
A. If the video is working but there is no sound, first make sure your monitor has built-in speakers.
