Troubleshooting

If the control panel on your LG refrigerator is flickering or not working properly, it may be caused by a temporary power fluctuation or a hardware issue.
Unplug the refrigerator, wait 5 minutes, and plug it back in to reset the system. If the issue persists, please contact LG Customer Support for assistance.

Why Is My Refrigerator Control Panel Flickering?

There are two main reasons why the control panel on your LG refrigerator may flicker. (Please note that the display design and location may vary by model.)

  • External factors: Temporary system errors caused by power fluctuations (such as lightning, power outages, or a loose outlet connection). High humidity or debris near the display can also affect its operation.
  • Hardware issues: A physical defect or malfunction in the display's internal circuit board or wiring.

Important

  • Make sure your hands are completely dry before unplugging the power cord or resetting the circuit breaker.
  • If the display is completely unresponsive and you cannot adjust the refrigerator or freezer temperature, please contact LG Customer Support immediately.

How to Fix a Flickering Display

Step 1. Unplug and reconnect the power cord

First, reset the system to clear any temporary power fluctuations. Unplug the refrigerator, wait 5 minutes, and plug it back in.

Step 2. Reset the circuit breaker if the power cord is inaccessible

If your refrigerator is a built-in model or the power cord is difficult to reach, turn off the circuit breaker connected to the refrigerator. Wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on.

Step 3. Schedule service

If the control panel continues to flicker or remains unresponsive after completing Steps 1 and 2, please contact LG Customer Support to schedule service.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. Will my food spoil if I unplug the refrigerator for 5 minutes?
A. No. As long as the doors remain closed, the cold air inside will be preserved for 5 to 10 minutes. This will not affect your food, so you can safely reset the refrigerator.
Q. Is there a temporary fix I can try before the technician arrives?
A. If your refrigerator has physical push buttons, debris or moisture around the buttons may cause the control panel to flicker.
After unplugging the refrigerator, you can try pressing the buttons several times and drying the area with a hair dryer. However, this is only a temporary measure and is not recommended.
