How to Fix Lines or Marks on Your LG OLED Monitor Using Image Cleaning

Troubleshooting

OLED monitors use self-lit pixels to produce bright, clear images. Because the display generates heat during use, leaving the same image on the screen for a long time may cause faint marks.
Run Image Cleaning from the monitor settings to refresh the pixels and reduce these marks.

Why Are There Lines or Marks on the Screen?

  • If static elements such as the Windows taskbar, icons, or game menus remain on the screen for an extended period, the affected pixels may develop temporary image retention.
  • Temporary marks may appear after you move the monitor or when the room temperature changes significantly.

How to Run Image Cleaning

FAQ

Q. Do I Need to Run Image Cleaning Manually Whenever I See Marks on the Screen?
A. No. To help reduce temporary image retention caused by extended use, Image Cleaning runs automatically when the monitor enters power-saving mode or is turned off. This happens after more than four hours of use since the previous cleaning process was completed.
Q. What Should I Do If the Marks Remain After I Turn the Monitor Off and Back On?
A. Follow the instructions above to run Image Cleaning manually using the monitor controls or remote.
