[LG Air Conditioner Odor] [All-in-One] Intense odor is smelled when cool air does not blow. There is an odor when using the product in the fan mode

Troubleshooting

Causes of odors from air conditioner

➔ The outdoor unit runs while the air conditioner operates in the cooling mode.

Cool air is supplied to the heat exchanger to blow cool wind, and hot air, moisture and odorous particles in the indoor environment are condensed in the cooled indoor heat exchanger,
and then condensed water is drained out of the product.
Spread speed of odor is normally retarded at low temperature, and indoor odorous particles are contained in condensed water and drained out of the product.
In this case, odors are neither easily generated, nor smelled.

➔ The outdoor unit stops while the air conditioner operates in the fan mode.

Supply of cool air to the indoor heat exchanger is interrupted while cool water is not generated, say, in the fan mode, and lukewarm air is blown.
Condensed water is not generated any longer in the fan mode, and water condensed on the heat exchanger is evaporated, and emitted to indoor environment.
In such a case, odorous particles in condensed water are also not discharged outdoor, and emitted out of the product together with evaporated air.
The higher temperature rises, the faster spread speed of odor grows.
Indoor temperature rises during the fan mode, and odorous particles diffused to indoor air at fast speed to cause smelling.

Cooling mode : Condensation water discharged to the outside / Fan mode : Condensed water evaporates and smells

Try this.

1. Set desired temperate at lower value to run the product in the cooling mode.

2. Make use of [Fan Mode] or [Auto Drying] function before stopping use of the air conditioner to dry the indoor heat exchanger for 10 minutes or longer.

3. Clean the ultra-fine filter, or replace the filter upon regular basis according to the management method of the filter.

4. If intense odor is smelled, turn the product off, and remove the filter, and dilute citric acid in the ratio of water (1000㎖) (0.26gal) and citric acid (3g) (0.10oz)
and spray the diluted solution sufficiently bon the indoor heat exchanger.
Then, set the cooling mode at 18℃ (64.4℉), and run the air conditioner for 20 to 30 minutes.
Odorous particles and impurities inside the product are washed by citric acid solution and condensed water out of the product to reduce odor.

Note
Do not use air conditioner cleaning agent, cleaning solution, or fragrant deodorant from the markets.
Failure to do so may damage the product or worsen the odor.
※ Product overhauling and washing service at the service center is charged.
