[LG Air Conditioner Air Purification] Suddenly the fine dust level rises.

Troubleshooting

1. Indoor space air convection effect
Even if the window is closed for the indoor space, the indoor air consistently goes through convection where hot air and cold air circulate together.
As the indoor air moves through convection, dust will move as well, thus high density dust lumps will react to the sensor and make the dust level go high very quickly.
If it goes up suddenly and down again, then it is not a problem with the product, so rest assured when you use it.
Each sensor might have an error, and due to the difference in floating dust quantity or density, if there are many products installed in the same space, then each product might show a different result.

2. You are not recommended to use it together with an ultra sonic humidifier in the winter.
During or after humidifier operation, the fine dust density might tend to be high for a longer time than usual.
If you must use it, then make sure to keep the minimum distance of 2.5 (8.2ft) meters and pay attention to the fact that the fine dust density can go higher.

※ Natural evaporation type humidifier has a small water molecule size, so it does not affect our product, but as it encounters with neighboring dust particles or evaporated particles form a big lump, it can cause some reactions.

Cleaning the dust sensor

PM1.0 sensor is a device to detect pollutions caused by fine dusts and large dusts, thus it requires periodic cleaning of the lens.

1. Check if the dust sensor and the gas sensor are applied to the product.
Even if it is the product with the same design, depending on the model, there can be a sensor or not.
See the following sensor applied product table.

2. Dust sensor lens location check and cleaning
[PM1.0 SENSOR] is displayed.
Open the sensor cover.
The lens for the dust sensor is found at 10’o clock inside the product.

3. Cleaning the lens
Put a little water on a cotton swab to clean the lens and wipe away any remaining moisture with a dry cotton swab.

Wall mounted type of air conditioner: After opening the PM1.0 sensor cap, wipe the lens with a cotton swab.

※ In case of oily dusts, as the oil layer is formed, if you use water to clean it, you might end up making the lens surface even dirtier.
In this case, use a cotton swab soaked in little bit of alcohol.
