If you see a picture but hear no sound after connecting your PC to your LG TV with an HDMI cable, the issue is usually caused by the PC audio output settings or the cable connection.
To resolve it, select the TV as the audio output device on the PC taskbar, or make sure the HDMI cable is securely connected.
Why Is There No Sound From Your TV via HDMI?
- Your TV or PC volume is too low, or the sound is muted.
- Your HDMI cable is loose or damaged.
- Your PC is set to output sound through speakers other than your TV.
- Your PC does not have an audio driver installed, or a system error has occurred.
- You are using a cable that does not support audio transmission, such as a DVI-to-HDMI cable.
How to Restore Sound From the TV
Step 1. Check the Volume and Mute Settings
Make sure your PC and TV are not muted. Check the volume on your PC taskbar, and use your TV remote to adjust the TV volume to an appropriate level.
Step 2. Check the HDMI Cable and Ports
Make sure the HDMI cable is securely connected to the ports on your PC and TV. If the cable is damaged, replace it with a working HDMI cable.
Step 3. Change the PC Audio Output Device
Select the Speaker icon on your PC taskbar. Under Select a Sound Output, select LG TV (HDMI Device) as the default output device.
If your TV does not appear in the output list, go to Settings, System, Sound, All Sound Devices, and Output Devices. Select the connected TV and change its setting to Allow.
Step 4. Check and Update Your PC Audio Driver
Press the Windows and X keys on your keyboard to open Device Manager.
Select Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. Right-click the audio device and update the driver or reinstall the latest version.
Go to Settings, and Windows Update to check for and install the latest updates.
If you use a prebuilt or custom-built PC, go to the official website of the PC or component manufacturer. Search for your model, and install the latest audio or graphics driver for the motherboard or graphics card, such as NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel.
Step 5. Still Need Help?
If the issue persists after following the steps above, you can get further support through LG Chatbot on our website or by requesting a technician visit.
