How to Restore Battery Charging
Step 1. Check Your Power Adapter Rating
Check the rating label on your power adapter and the product label on the bottom of your laptop to ensure the voltage and current match.
Use an adapter that provides the required power output. For example, using a 40W adapter with a laptop that requires a 60W or 90W adapter may prevent your battery from charging correctly or cause your screen to flicker.
Step 2. Check Your Power Adapter and Cable Connections
Make sure your power plug is securely connected to the wall outlet.
Make sure your power cable is securely connected to the adapter.
Make sure your adapter connector is securely connected to your laptop.
Check the charging indicator on your laptop once everything is connected.
Step 3. Check Your Charging Indicator
On some models that support USB-C charging, your charging indicator shows the current charging status.
- On: Your AC adapter is connected, and charging is complete.
- Blinking: Your AC adapter is connected, and your battery is charging.
- Off: Your AC adapter is not connected.
If your laptop turns off after displaying a low battery warning and the power status indicator blinks three times when you press the power button, connect your AC adapter.

Step 5. Reduce Power Use During USB-C Charging
If your laptop supports USB-C PD charging, your battery may continue to discharge while connected if your laptop uses more power than your adapter supplies.
This can happen when you have several external devices connected or multiple power-intensive apps running.
Make sure your adapter provides the power required by your laptop.
Disconnect any external devices you are not using and close unnecessary power-intensive apps.
Check whether your battery begins charging normally.
Step 6. Resolve Charging Issues in Cold Environments
Charging may slow down to protect the battery cells when your battery temperature falls below 10°C (50°F).
The displayed battery level may also be temporarily inaccurate in a cold environment.
Move your laptop to a warmer environment above 10°C (50°F) and check whether your battery charges normally.
Charging and discharging your battery two or three times in this warmer environment may help restore an accurate battery level reading.
