But there are things that can get better. -- The Skype menu takes 50% of the screen and wont hide. -- There is no left and right swivel options on the cam. Other than that its great product. Smooth and easy. I just saw AN-VC500 available. I might have bought that instead. :) January 8, 2014

The camera works flawlessly for communicating with family and friends. I am now working on getting the "motion" function of my LG Smart Tv to also work with the camera. This is my first experience with LG products and I couldn't be more pleased. No need to look elsewhere for electronics. January 5, 2014

Out of all the camera's trying, I recommend getting this camera for your TV if you wish to Skype through there. I tried the product out the night I received it. The person I was talking to on Skype, said that we came out crystal clear and the quality was excellent. The set up was very easy to use. I just plugged it in, the TV recognized it right away and we were able to Skype with no problems. If you have an LG smart tv, I highly recommend get this camera to Skype through the TV. I have tried other video cameras for my TV and this one has worked the best so far. I love LG products and will stick with them for anything. I like the LG because you pretty much have to have LG products for the other LG products that you have. January 4, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Decent product, only used 1 time I bought a smart lg tv and waited about a year before buying the tv camera so we could all sit in the living room and talk to out of town relatives. Well on christmas we set up our Skype and called the family. Not sure if it was because of the holiday but we kept freezing up and ended up going to the computer and face timing and it was much more clearer on FaceTime then on the tv. but is was fun to see on the big screen tv. Wish it worked like FaceTime and not just on a Skype acct. overall its fun to have, not sure how much use it will get. January 4, 2014

Hi, I asked the same question ("Has this item been discontinued"#.

The response I got was that it is not discontinued and suggested I buy it from LGTVMALL. I did that a week ago and it seems LGTVMALL is some 3rd party online payment processing company that cannot tell me anything. They said they don't even have a contact in LG to ask.

It does look like LG are screwing around and not coming clean that they are either discontinuing the product or that they have some major manufacturing delays.

I spoke to Adorama #the only retailer they LG lists here for this product# and they said they cannot get any answer from LG either.

And yes, it is crazy that this wont work with any standard usb webcam...

Answer: 
We regret the inconvenience you have experienced with this television and camera. The 32LW5700 is not from our 2012 product line. The LW5700 series is a 2011 model, and as such, would be compatible with the AN-VC300 model camera. It is recommended to confirm the model number of the television and camera in your possession.

Audio quality

Just got my VC400 and connected it to my 60LM7200. Video quality is great and there are lots of controls for it in Skype. Unfortunately, the audio quality is very bad. People on the other end say it sounds like I'm in an empty room with lots of echo. Is there any way to adjust or tweek the audio quality?

Answers

Answer: 
The microphone issue seems to be caused by Skype turning the TV's internal speakers back on even though the TV is connected to an external audio system. As a result, there is a slight time difference between the output of the two and Skype's feedback cancellation doesn't work. If I turn the external stereo off, then I don't get the echoing. Just have to remember to reconfigure the whole audio setup every time!

Answer: 
I apologize, but no; there are no settings available to adjust the audio output experienced on the other end of the connection. The only available option would be the camera speaker test to allow you the chance to hear what is being received and processed.

Has this been discontinued?

I have been trying to buy this camera for a 47LM7600 TV, but for several months it has been out of stock at all authorized LG stores.
The two stores I spoke to said they have no idea if there will ever be any more back in stock and they said they have not received an answer from the manufacturer (LG).
BestBuy is now showing this as Discontinued.
Is it going to be available again?

Volume/ channel up/down gestures?

I use the ANVC400 with my 55LM7600. The box the ANVC400 advertises Smart Zoom and gestures capability: volume and channel up and down.

Where are those settings/ gestures?

We appreciate your interest in the operations of this video camera. The Zoom / Gestures / Volume controls all are performed with the television’s Magic Motion Remote Control device. This notation simply suggests that these features of the controller can work with this device as well.
