What People Are Saying

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Keeps turning off Guys I just bought one and it keeps turning off every hour or so. It's not the settings, timers are off, eco mode is off, still it turns off! What a waste of money!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best, hands down. I first saw this TV in a Best Buy. It wasn't turned on at the time, so all I could think about it at first was how strange it looked. I could not (and still don't) understand why it was/is curved. I suppose it has something to do with a more natural feel to the picture and how our eyes work, but I've yet to really read anything that tells me, specifically, why it's curved. They generally say it has to do with creating a unique design that makes it "bring you into the experience" or that it's a design that "makes your TV an art piece" as well. Either way, it's a neat idea. Once i actually got to see the TV in operation, I was blown away by the picture quality. Amazing! The images were so crisp and clear! You know that annoying thing that HDTV's have done where everything looks like it was filmed with a home video camera? OLED doesn't. You know that annoying pixelation that occurs from shoddy, Plasma or LCD displays? OLED doesn't. They even reduced side glare by making it curved! Although, I don't think that was on their minds. The OLED is a beautifully designed, magnificent piece of hardware that offers a visual feast for your enjoyment. I WISH I could afford one. I wouldn't want anything smaller than a 55", because I'd definitely want to make it a part of my home theater system, as opposed to setting it up as a counter-top TV in the kitchen or what-have-you. It simply wouldn't receive the laud or praise it deserves anywhere other than where it is a central and integral piece of the experience. I will say that there are two major drawbacks for the OLD: 1.) Price...dear Lord is it expensive! 2.) Shininess...If you like to have lights on around your TVs, you've probably always hated Plasma TVs simply because they give off glare from every angle and they reflect YOU and other objects in the shiny screen if you're anywhere near them...and OLED TVs can be known to do that too- albeit, at a much reduced level of occurrence. Either way, this is a fabulous Television- and boy is it ever a vision!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MAGNIFICENT TV Watching television on this TV is like being on the set location of whatever show you are viewing! The OLED screen resolution is simply amazing and the up converting to 4K/UHD software is without equal in the current market place. This is the best TV you can buy right now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great picture would recommend I like the set it has a great picture and black levels and the 4 k image is awesome the way I believe ultra Hi Def should be ,over all use and set up is not to difficult I am not sure yet with all the web os features but the pointer style remote is okay, the only concern I have is the manual states not to watch a movie with the black bars for more than a hour to avoid burn in,most movies are longer than a hour and the zoom feature does not always work on all movies, also if any pixels go bad this is also not covered under warranty along with burn in for such a expensive TV I would think the warranty would be better.
Date published: 2015-03-25
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extra Revolutionary! LG has stepped their game up with a totally wise way of technology. Adding the actual color of BLACK to the pixels enhances the images far more clear than any leading competition. The fact LG included this feature allows a seemingly infinite refresh rate, not needing a special HDMI cord to play games or watch colorful, action-packed films! The 3D option on this television is also an excellent luxury!

We just got this tv- is there a way to watch a " sample version " of 3D movie or just samples to show people the best of the 3D mode?

Asked by: Sweeties
We appreciate your interest in this television and its features. The best of the 3D mode will only be available when the 3D options of the TV and operating in conjunction with a video that is formatted for 3D, on a 3D device, such as a 3D video, played on a 3D BluRay player, while the 3D function is active. When will a 55 inch 4k oled tv be available?

The 65 inch and 77 inch 4k oled tvs are too large for my space, but I would love to purchase a 55 inch 4k oled tv if one were to be available from LG. Will it be released in the near future?
Asked by: Jerrytv5
I do not think there would be a 55 inch tv, specially because at that size 4k does not really work very well. you'll want a 65 inch tv at least,, sorry

So the saying goes if you do not ask you will not receive...How do I get this 65' OLED TV at no cost? Is there a way I can get on a consumer product testing list to get this TV? I could use it and give consumer feedback! There is no way I can afford this TV but would love to have it!! Thanks :)
Asked by: TravisWD73
TravisWD73, thank you for that glowing endorsement on the LG 65" Class (64.5" Diagonal) UHD 4K Smart 3D Curved OLED TV w/ webOS™, Model # 65EC9700. When you visit the LG site and scroll to the bottom of the page, you will find various links and one of them is the "Contact Us" link. You might want to try there first, regrettably, we do not have information for promotional giveaways or how that can be done, but you could also visit [http://www.lg.com/us/promotions/home-entertainment-deals.jsp] to see if there are any promotions that make the TV more affordable...^IFV

What is the official refresh rate?

I have seen reports of it being 120Hz and others being 240Hz.
Asked by: dlowe
There is technically no refresh rate because each pixel is independently illuminated. Refresh rates refer to other LED products where there is a "backlit" screen. Just like old time TV's where each line is produced Inerlaced being every other line, The p for progressive scan, every line at the same time. The refresh rate is a "frequency" of how many times the line is completed. With each individual pixel being illuminated, this TV has an infinite refresh rate. I understand that IMAX is producing new 44 frames per second which is a lot faster than current. I wonder if this TV would be able to produce that. I think it may be limited only to software and not the hardware.

HDR

Where do we voice our complaint about the lack of HDR support? This model is very expensive and very similar to the new model yet there is no HDR support. As a customer that just dropped a lot of money on this television, I am pretty upset.
Asked by: mschoobs
We regret your dissatisfaction with the features of this television. We provide the service platform from which various applications can launch. We do not produce any of the actual applications. As such, if the HDR application has not been developed for compatibility with this TV model, this is not caused by the TV manufacturer. It is possible to issue such a request to the application producers.

WHY NO FLAT TV

Why no flat OLED TV? This thin television set is perfect for wall mounting but not if it is curved.
Asked by: ryanm1
Hi. Because the curved TVs is newer than flat TVs, LG tries to put the latest technologies on curved rather than flats. Curved OLED TVs are thinnest.
