Hi LG, Cost set aside, what TV has the sharper picture the OLED or LCD?? - I have heard that the OLED has a slightly softer picture. Thank you, Videonut

Asked by: Videonut
Yes a lcd has a more detailed sharper pix than oled, it doesn't  make sense since if compaired with same resolution that both have the same pixel count.

When will the new lg oled e8 come out? And how do they compare to last years model? What new on the e8? Will ut have 3d?

Asked by: Avrgeek
We currently do not have the full specifications for the LG E8 OLED 4K HDR AI Smart TV - 65" Class (64.5" Diag), Model # OLED65E8PUA or the new 2018 OLED TVs, but from announcements made at CES2018, they will will feature Control4® Simple Device Discovery Protocol (SDDP) technology. The integration enables LG to offer automation ready televisions for consumers worldwide. They will support Advanced HDR by Technicolor, building on a legacy of supporting all major HDR formats – from the premium Dolby Vision™ to HDR10 and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) the lineup adds key innovations, including LG ThinQ® artificial intelligence, the new α (Alpha) 9 intelligent processor ( LG’s α (Alpha) 7 for the LG OLED B8.) LG was one of the last two 3D TV manufacturers to stop making 3D TVs and they made an announcement at CES that they would stop making 3D Tvs which is why there weren't any 2017 models that featured 3D and there won't be any 2018 models that feature 3D. There are numerous articles online that you can read about the demise of 3D TVs and why TV manufacturers are not making them anymore...^IFV

why are you killing 3d?

Asked by: sillen
I was gonna buy 2017 model but found out it didn’t have 3D saw the petition and thought I would hold out to see if LG responded with at least one 2018 model that supported 3D. Looks like they will not. Seems I will no longer be buying LG despite the two sets I currently own. I used to be such a big supporter of LG and I am not going to buy a two year old TV. That is for sure. Guess I am holding out for 8k to get cheap in a different brand.

Has the burn-in issue been addressed at all, I had heard that it was going to be in 2018

Asked by: doug r
Hi Doug r. All our OLED TVs have always addressed the issue of burn-in and image retention. Image retention and burn-in occur when static images are left on the screen for too long. In the settings menu for all our current OLEDs in the OLED Panel Settings are features that can improve image quality issues related to image sticking when the screen has been on for a certain amount of time. The Pixel Refresher feature calibrates any issues that may arise on the screen when your TV has been turned on for a long time.Calibration takes more than an hour. You can initialize it when the TV is turned off or when the TV is on. If initialized while the TV is off, do not turn the TV on as that will cause the Pixel Refresher to stop operating. If initialized while the TV is on, the TV turns off immediately and the Pixel Refresher starts running. The TV will automatically turn back on when it is done. The other feature is Screen Shift. This feature moves the screen slightly at regular intervals to prevent image sticking on the display panel. That will not change for our 2018 lineup and they, like all OLEDs we have manufactured will employ technology that fully addresses any of those concerns...^IFV
