[LG Air Conditioner Noise] I hear the water flowing sounds from the buried pipe

Troubleshooting

It is quiet when using the air purification function, but when using the cooling function, does the air conditioner generate the water flowing sounds like ‘hissing’, ‘swishing’ or ‘gulping’ sound?

Causes and Symptoms

  • I hear the sound as the refrigerant(air conditioner gas) moves due to the difference between the diameters of the buried pipe and the air conditioner pipe.

Checking whether the sound is from the buried pipe

1. Press the [Cooling] button to see if the water flowing sound is heard.

2. Press the [MODE] button to enter Fan Mode and check if it makes the following

3. If the sound is heard only when you use the cooling function that makes the refrigerant travel to the outdoor unit, then it is from the buried pipes.
Check the following remedies.

Switch to fan mode when noise occurs during cooling operation

Newly constructed building requires burial of pipes for the air conditioner in the wall or floor for interior works.
When the refrigerant moves from the buried pipe with a diameter of 9.52㎟(0.37in) to the air conditioner pipe with a much smaller diameter of 6.35㎟(0.25in), it normally speeds up, thus making the water flowing sounds like ‘gurgling’ sound.
When spraying water, if you press the hose entrance and make the passage shallower, then the internal pressure is increased and sounds will be louder. This is how it happens.
If the noise is too loud, check if the noise reduction parts were used for air conditioner installation.

Try this

Do you want to reduce the level of noises from the buried pipes?

➔ Check with the air conditioner installation company regarding whether noise reduction parts for buried pipes were used.
If you did not use the noise reduction parts, contact an LG Electronics service center.

If you use the noise reduction parts for buried pipes when installing the air conditioner, you can prevent a sudden shrinking of the diameter of the pipe, thus successfully reducing the level of noise.
There are two different types of parts for LG Electronics air conditioners, namely, for general pipes or buried pipes, thus they will be installed accordingly depending on the site situation.
Check with the air conditioner installation technician or company regarding whether noise reduction parts for buried pipes were used.
If there is something wrong with the part, contact an LG Electronics service center.
